Hexayurt Capacity Questions (How many people can fit?)

Tried searching around but couldn't find an answer. There are 4 of us who are interested in building a Hexayurt for burning man. What size yurt would we need to build? How many people can an H12 fit? If that's too small, would a 8' + 4' Stretch Hexayurt be large enough?

I suppose another option could be to build 2 H12s but I'd like to avoid that since it'l be way more expensive and much harder to transport.

Looks like the foot print is 14x16 which should be big enough.

Maybe bring a small tent to use as storage space.

I'd suppose it depends on how good of friends you all are.
tough as it may be, you might try calculating how many square feet a person takes laying down, and consider the shape, and see how many fit on your floor plan. that might be max.

I'd say 3x6 minimum, or 18sq.ft.

A standard H12 was roomy and comfortable for two people plus gear. Light packers would probably do OK with four people. Keep in mind that if four people want to stand up inside, they will all be within an 8 foot circle in the center. Putting two queen mattresses against opposite walls or putting four sleeping bags along four walls might be acceptable. Gear can be piled on the remaining empty wall and part of the wall that has the door. Everyone throws their day bags at the foot of their bunk.

We've used our H12 for the last 4 years. The most we've had staying in it is 3, but 4 would fit fine. We put our cots against the walls and there is still good space in the center...

This year I think I'm going with the 6 ft stretch since it will just be me. I drew the actual dimensions out on the ground and then put everything I expect to use inside it. I am going to build it next week just to be sure. If it's to tight I can always use my sons pentayurt

I've been using a 6' hexayurt since 2011. At 41 sq.ft. it's just large enough for me, though I'm not a light packer by any means. I usually set up a dome tent for camp gear to clear up space in the yurt, too.

Since the H12 is 166 sq.ft. that leaves 41.5 sq.ft. per person with four occupants. Half a square foot more than the H6! I'd imagine that it'll serve you well assuming that privacy isn't an issue.
