and as eric has said in the past, if you want quiet prayer and personal space to do the temple burn as you wish, there is plenty of "wide open" out in deep playa.

and you can still see the fire, it's big that way.

Are you sure that I'm the irritable one? Why does it bother you so much that some people want to have an experience you don't seem to understand, and why can't you just fuck off and let it happen? My irritation is from people fucking with my experience. Yours is because people don't like you fucking with theirs. I'd say the perception of who the fucktard is may change with how you look at it.

I prefer quiet at the temple burn but this made me laugh. If you do bring a bullhorn can you please make sure you talk about how funny it is that people get indignant about other people not doing things the way they want?

I didn't think I was being indignant about people not obeying my whims. I just really don't understand why it makes people so angry when others are trying to hold a quiet event for 15-20 minutes out of 10 days. Most people seem to want to experience the temple burn quietly. Unfortunately even a few loud people can completely disrupt that. Why is it your mission to piss on others experiences? Freedom from societal norms and unnecessary rules doesn't (or shouldn't) remove basic empathy or consideration. Being a disruptive asshole may be allowed, but it doesn't make you any less selfish or annoying just because it's burning man. Feel free to show your colors and be a dick for the sake of being a dick - but don't expect people to not be annoyed by your purposely annoying behaviour ffs.

Being a dick isn't the only reason for making noise though. I agree it's problematic that by the nature of it making noise impacts everyone around you and I agree that doing it just to piss the quiet people off is pretty slack and I even wish that the temple burn could just be a quiet event or all the loud people could sit together and all the quiet people together but I don't see that happening so I think the best way to enjoy the temple burn is to accept that some people will make noise and try not to let it get to you.

FWIW this is generally how I approach the temple burn. I asked some people to be quiet last year because it seemed clear they were high and didn't know they were bothering people around them. This discussion was mostly in response to the mouth foaming responses when someone initially mentioned something about quiet.

I can handle an hour of quiet while it burns. I'm not just talking about that. The problem I have are the ones who no matter what time or day you go are shushing you. This year I painted a picture with all the hateful things my mother and ex's have ever called me or said to me. I plan on placing it in the temple and doing a war dance of freedom. How much do you want to wager that I will get shushed and shamed?

So, yes. Fuck you and your rules of how I should let go of things.

Edited to add: ok, maybe not all of them but a good sampling.
