Room onboard bus from Madison WI

Post by FlyingMonkey » Wed Jul 02, 2014 8:55 am

I plan on taking my bus, which has been converted in to an RV, to the Playa this year. I have a few people interested in riding along but would like at least 7 people to drive down the total cost for everyone. All I ask is that everyone splits the gas & I could use 1 more driver. The bus has plenty of seating & storage plus a bathroom & small kitchen. The plan is to leave the Madison area sometime Friday, Aug 22nd, drive straight through, & arrive sometime Sunday. Depending on what everyone wants to do we will leave the Playa on Sunday or Monday.

PM me here if interested.

I'm from Minneapolis and this sounds like a killer ride. But I already have one planned with a few friends. If not I'd take you up on it, in a heartbeat!

We had a lot of fun last time. We drove straight through (around 42 hours), stopping occasionally for breaks/food, & arrived on Sunday night.

Great times with great friends :D

It's not just the destination but the journey that we experience & form lifelong memories of. But admittedly, the destination was pretty awesome!

Well, shoot. If I weren't currently (long term) unemployed I might take you up on this. Getting a bus converted into a motor home and taking it to Burning Man is something I've wanted to do since about 2006. (And, with the way things have been going for me, use it as a retirement home.)

I live in Fitchburg (at least until about Aug. 1st-- maybe longer if I can get caught up on rent.) Where did you store and work on the bus? Back when I was employed, that was one of the things which held me back from getting a bus.

I live out in a rural area North of Madtown & have a big yard so I just park/work on it there. Me & a Buddy bought it a few years ago & take turns parking it at our places & working on it. OMHO it's one of the best ways to travel Home. What could be better than riding with a bunch of friends & making new ones along the way. Setting up camp is pretty easy too, just set the parking brake.

I went in 2006, and, while setting up my tent during the heat of day, decided that a converted bus would be the best way to do things if/when I got a chance to go again.

I hope that your trip goes well.

to unjonharley: no, but I have interviewed there.
