Though I will admit to vacillating between calling them Germans and Nazis and did intentionally go with the more inflammatory term.

Disney, Nazi, Godwin's law, Christian the Jew, equating Germans with Nazis, patriotic French music (seemingly without fear), Melodiousdirg..............and all on one page!!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
and the one thought, that sums it all up, for me at least
It's all about YOU, burner.
It's what YOU do
It's what YOU like
and it's how YOU act:
YOU, have no right to tell anyone what is right, how to "Burn", how to feel or how to express themselves ( physical harm/crime/trespass excepted, of course)
YOU don't like it?
YOU deal with it.
But, it's YOU, "Burner, party of one", who is tasked with finding your own happy place, not molding others to fit it.

Re: Temple building drama?
Well hello all. I've been reading all six pages of this conversation try to catch up. Now that I have, I cant help but think this is so funny.
There were a few comments from people that didn't believe their comments were valid, to them I say: are you a burner? Yes. Then your opinion is valid.
I find it hard to believe that an argument can start on quiet or not quiet to me it seems funny but here it is. I volunteer for the temple, and we guardians do not hush people. I've been taught to respect everyone and their rituals and we only intervene when your actions endanger yourself, others or the temple. During the burn I've seen people in tears, people with smiles and people that cheer; all of which is okay. Should you chose to be silent then be silent, should you chose to cry then cry and should you chose to laugh and cheer and rejoice well then do so. We as a community can not restrict how people celebrate/mourn. we should all embrace our difference and accept one another. If someone's joy can disrupt you then a min or two alone maybe what you need, but its unreasonable and unfair to sit with a few thousand people and demand that they follow your believes or you way or mourning. I truly hope that we can all find a way to be our self around each other, because as I understand it burning man is not about being the same as everyone else.
Love you all, see ya on the playa

Thank you. I've never seen the shushing come from the guardians. Usually others in the temple. My buddies first year he went to the temple. Now he's very not spritual, he just wanted to see what it was about. So it's fairly quiet and then they see this lady doing some heavy breathing exercises, no biggie. Suddenly she lets out this blood curdling scream. My friend, not used to this sort of thing starts laughing. Nervous laughter, he had a bit of freak out at the overwhelming emotion of the place.
As he was hurrying out the looks he got from folks have kept him from ever going back.

Yep, this. And back there when you referred to the "yoga" people bringing you down and wanting the silence and blah blah blah, I take offense to that :p As a yoga teacher and practitioner and Temple Guardians volunteer I completely agree with the quote above. You feel what you feel, you experience what you experience, fuck the judgment.Underwear2013 wrote: We as a community can not restrict how people celebrate/mourn. we should all embrace our difference and accept one another. This year, I'm mourning a divorce, I'm celebrating a new amazing relationship, a new dog, getting my home back, skydiving for the first time ever, turning a milestone birthday year, my life shifting in crazy beautiful ways. All the things. I'm going to scream, cry, dance and sit there and stare into the fire.
This is your life. This is your mourning and your experience. Who are any of us to deny each other that? Ridiculous. You want quiet? --Change your environment, don't ask the environment to change for you.
