Birgin Coming to the Playa

Post by NormG1 » Fri Jul 04, 2014 6:33 pm

Happy 4th of July.

It is rapidly dawning on me that BM is next month. And I am woefully unprepared. Trying to not leave everything to the last minute.

I have always been a closet burner, but I am just now coming out of the closet.

I am still looking for a compatible camp. I was invited to one back in February, but have heard little since, so I am not counting on that coming to fruition.

Trying to put together all the things I'll need. I live in a small apartment, so compact stuff is preferred.

Then making a meal plan . . . I can cook but I hardly ever do. Eat out mostly.

If another virgin is coming up from San Francisco, I'll probably have room for one person in the passenger seat.

Cheers,

Norm

WELCOME!! NormG1

Closet burner? I never heard that term but it's cool.
If you don't connect with a camp, there's nothing wrong with enjoying the experience alone. You'll still meet a lot of folks.

If I am not in a camp where do I park and pitch my tent??

I know this will all make sense after my first burn.

Here's some relevant info from another thread;

Good luck and welcome!

Theme camps are totally optional, but registered theme camps get reserved camping spots.

Anyone can call themselves a camp, and do something fun and themed, though. And you can simply camp alone or with friends (under no name) and still have an amazing time. There are advantages either way.

Wherever there is room. You might want to meet the neighbors first, just to make sure they aren't asses, but there's space all over. Greeters will give you a more up to date answer.

Just so you know, we don't like people posting the same thing over and over. We'll read it, and if it's in the wrong place, the mods will move it.
Carry on.

Educate yourself. Read the survival guide. Follow links to find out how others do it. If you take care of your own experience, grow your self reliance, you'll come out the better for it.

I've merged the two threads, but I've left the third post in the general introduction thread.

My daughters have daughters and are happy, married, productive Bay Area suburbanites.

They will be safe because Burning Man isn't on their radar.

They know their father is crazy but have learned to accept that which they cannot change.
