Hi All:
Happy 4th of July.
I am a Birgin. This will be my very first burn. But I have been a closet burner for a long time and it is time to come out.
I am a sexy sexagenarian.
Still looking for a compatible camp. Spent the day looking online for coolers, camp stoves, hats, and all the other stuff I will need, most of which I used to have until I moved to Barcelona in 2010.
Back to the city of my birth, San Francisco.
See you on the playa.
Norm

Hello! My name is Cynthia Fleischmann (Dirty-Doodler) and this will be my third year attending BM. I am an artist and photographer combining both into a form i call 'bodypaintography'. I usually paint directly onto the body to incorporate it into the environment but at BM I improvise, using dust as the covering to connect body and place. This year, similar to last, I will be organizing a naked artistic happening called "Ashes to Ashes; Dust to Dust" on Thursday 4pm if you are interested in joining! Info will be in the What, When, Where booklet. I am half Swiss half American and I love to dance!

Hi Cynthia welcome to ePlaya! I just had a look at your website and your work looks wonderful. I'm going to show it and your playa events entry to my boyfriend because he loves to do things in the nude.

Welcome Cynthia! I would like volunteer to be decorated or otherwise participate. I would have to close the bicycle repair a little early, but I can do that.

What's up? I'm Sea.. aka the Pilot.
I'm currently in my second of three months in South America, before I head towards Burning Man. Right now I'm in Rio de Janeiro, soaking up the 2014 World Cup, and in a little over a week I'll be heading through Bolivia and Peru towards Colombia.
I was born in London, raised in Singapore, my mother is Canadian, my father is a New Zealander, and I've lived the past 8+ years of my life in wonderful Melbourne Australia. Try saying that in broken Spanish or Portuguese! It's easier to say I'm from Australia.
I've had many friends from Toronto and Melbourne frequent Burning Man over the past decade or more, and I've been to several regional events. However, this is my first Burning Man itself. I'll be volunteering as a stage manager at Center Camp.
I'm very excited! I'm looking forward to it greatly. Until then... x

Oops it looks like I jumped the gun a bit posting to say hello in your Vehicle Pass thread Sea Pilot.
As I said there it's nice to see someone coming all the way from Australia, you may not be an Aussie by blood but kiwi and Canadian parents and 8 years calling Australia home comes pretty close
Also I'm going to be volunteering as an SM at Centre Camp too! Do you do that wort of thing normally or are you trying something new?

Drive all day Sunday..get some shut eye and wake early Monday refreshed and ready to go.

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
*HELLOOOOO EVERYONE*
I wanted to introduce myself on here because I've read through heaps of stuff on this forum... but I've always just lurked, now I thought it would be nice to take the plunge. Better late than never! Really excited about my first burn this year, I've been thinking and planning and now it's finally coming.
I'm an Aussie 25 yo female from Sydney, traditionally a "doofer" but I don't expect burning man to be ANYTHING like festivals I have been to in the past.
I'm lucky enough to have an amazing sister (27) and brother (30) that will also be coming on this journey with me. We leave Sydney in about two weeks and head to portugal for boom festival, and then flying over to the US and we have about 48hrs between when we land in LA and when the burning man gates open.
We are meeting up with two other friends from australia in Reno and one from Canada, and one from Glasgow, this will be the first burn for everyone except one person in our group!! We talk everyday on facebook about what to bring, how excited we are... it's slowly consuming more and more of my life. It's been a pleasure being able to read the words of advice, warnings and even the general chat on this forum and it has been such a help to me so far. So even if I don't chat much on here, a really big THANK YOU to everyone who contributes to the page, and I'm looking forward to contributing back

When signed in, look for a "New Topic" button at the top left of any subforum. You will not be see "New Topic" while reading any ongoing thread, you have to be on the main page for a subcategory.
The more you have obviously tried to answer a question before you ask, the nicer people tend to be about answering.
If you want to know if a topic has been covered before posting a new topic, use the "Search" function at the top center or google topic eplaya, as in:
goggles eplaya
contact lenses eplaya
house rules for RVs eplaya
and you'll probably find a lot.

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi
My name is Alex
Who am I?
I am a pretty shy but anyhow excentric and positive guy, I've travelled a lot, always felt home is where I am, making the best of every situation, material stuff is just matter, I respect people for who they are and what they do to me and others, not what they have. I am a nice guy, that's it!
Well, I am from Sweden and never been to the Playa before, this year I am going and I somehow already feel I can belong. Why and how?
Well, I've always had my special "look", being excentric and love to wear freaky clothes, somehow they now seem very concervative after seeing all pics and videos of Burning Man
When I was really young, like 10-12 years old, I used to paint my own clothes and wear them, and rain was my eternal enemy as it ruined my clothes since I painted them with normal markers
I've always been on "the other side" (in their eyes) from the mainstream people and community, fighting for the enviroment, trying to influence ideas on people, pushing forward, for better, for all. But most of them just saw me as "the guy that always has to oppose everything" when in my mind, I just thought a bit further then most, I think
. Growing up in Sweden where I currently also live, it's like all over the world, if you are against or doesn't dress and act as the majority you are the strange one, the stupid one, the rad, the bad. So I've embrassed it, I can be that guy, no problem
I've tried getting togheter with people like me where I live, going to festivals, living in collective, joining parties and organisations, getting my ideas into action, but never really felt at home and felt like I suceeded, always snuck off and spending the time alone, just watching the others, thinking you know.
Last summer I broke my foot really bad, spending the time from september to april in my sofa and surfing the net. I found Burning Man, immediately falling in love, all of my ideas that made me the "other guy" are the rules on the Playa. Wonderful! I have to go was my thought. So now I am going. I'm hitch-hiking from New Jersey, spending the last days in Reno buying all I need and then taking the Burner Express shuttle bus to Black rock City on the 24th!
Well, for you that is not a first timer reading this, you may think that I don't know what I am talking about, and I absolutely think you are right, and once I come to the Playa I will guaranteed share this opinion I believe, but somehow I feel there's finally a place where I just can be me, with people that share my beliefs, and I share yours, and I hope it will turn out like it looks and feels, can't wait, and I hope it's even more than I can expect, from reading this forum and the homepage up and down every page, it probably will be and I will embrasse it:-)
Like my signature says, I just want to be, that's all!
I don't now, maybe I just talk a lot and write too much and think I know stuff;-)
Thanks for your time reading this and hope I meet you

Yep Elliot, if not more then twice
And joned the newsletter immediately when I got the ticket , so I have been following up on most but anyhow, I haven't been to Burning Man so it just grows and grows within me, you know what I mean?
I will spend my last days in Reno getting everything togheter, kind of hard going from Sweden with just 2 bags so bringing the essentials and getting the rest in Nevada.
For spending time in tent outside normal manbuilt infrastructure and services I am kind of used to, you know "gå på tur" for a week or two, but in the desert will be a new experience, reading a lot about keeping cool since swedish summer is what it is.
Making "excel-list" putting more stuff on there every day, any tip what to not forget or a really good tip to a new soon to be burner?

Alexztheman, sounds like you have the right attitude. Just do yourself a huge favor. Remember, there's ALWAYS something else you'll need or want before you get there, and even after you get there.
