Lack of sufficient What Where When" guides
Unfortunately, Time constraints admission into Burning Man on Thursday for my crew and I. So many times in the past several years the greeters and the tent near center camp are out of the What Where When" guide. I've been told that other people (Law Enforcement, locals whoever...) that are not ticket holders grab up a sufficient amount that causes BMORG to run out of these essential booklets. Suggestion- print more! another suggestion would be to have a prinable version online so we can bring them with us from home (to home). Thanks! Tomaso

Essential booklets?!!
Not to be sarcastic, but why is that a problem? Does anybody need one of those for anything but souvenir value?
Do you really go around with one of those trying to schedule what time to be where?

It's not easily printable but all the events (plus a tonne more that didn't fit in the book) are online. Especially if you're not arriving til Thursday it wouldn't be a huge task to make a note of some events you might be interested in before you head out there.

Not only that, but, if you have a smart phone (and everybody but me and, I think, three Luddites does), then you can down load that sucker before you go to playa.
Or am I confusing it with the where are we camping ap?

My Greeting shifts start 3 days before the event opens. I'll be 'pushing' for the Greeters to ask , "How many books do you NEED?" Instead of, "How many people in your vehicle?" The greeters talk about it every year but still ran out of everything by Friday last year. They already print more entry packets than tickets.

Re: Lack of sufficient What Where When" guides
Every morning on the playa (2pm) my buddy and I will read the entries in the Guide while enjoying our morning coffee. I used go over the list on-line in advance and just write down, ha, actually scrawl on paper, any highlights that I really seriously wanted to see or do. Write it down, be that radical! The vast bulk of anything planned, read about, on the agenda, simply falls by the wayside. There's too much fun happening between there and here. And it's so great to unexpectedly stumble into wonder after wonder. I never have a smart phone and seldom have a watch out there, but I manage. The guides aren't necessary, though everyone who wants one, should get a guide, heck, they paid the $400plus to attend. I can see some people grabbing lots as a survivor or whatever. Hard to plan for that....

Re: Lack of sufficient What Where When" guides
The printed version only has the first (1500?) events that got submitted, it is in no way the complete WWW guide. If this is a repeat problem, then your best bet is to get one of the online versions of the guide, and downloaded before you leave for the playa. It will be much more up to date than the printed one.

Re: Lack of sufficient What Where When" guides
Only the first 960 events are making it into the printed guide this year.
Also it's just occurred to me, isn't this section of the board for meta discussions on the policies of ePlaya, not Burning Man as a whole?

Please note that this is not a "I have random feedback for Burning Man" board.
If you volunteer with a team or department and have ideas or suggestions, the best place to put those forward is with your manager or shift supervisor. Otherwise, send your feedback to Burning Man between the end of the burn and November first, via the email address that will be published in the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter in the issues that follow the event.
