I'm so old I remember when a person posting on eplaya was asked to first introduce themselves, instead of having their first and only post be a ticket request.

I'm so old the Introduce Yourself thread didn't exist when I started. There were also no ticket requests, just people begging for free ones, because you could buy them at the Gate.
And I don't think I ever introduced myself... hmmm. Wonder if anyone knows who I am.

Yeah the free "miracle ticket" beggars were more entertaining.
And in my opinion more deserving of any and all ridicule.
I remember when tickets weren't even expensive!
I traded a wrecked '79 Chevy van for my first Burning Man ticket.

Re: I'm so old I remember when...
I was at King's Island in Ohio the day he jumped the busses! My grandparents loaded my brother's, a buncha cousin's and I into the back of a ford pickup with a camper shell on it and drove to the park. I remember eating lunch in the back of the truck and hearing the motorcyle and crowd noises but I was to focused on getting lunch wolfed down and back into the park to take the time to watch some "old guy" jump a few busses on a bike!Captain Goddammit wrote:I remember being excited about Evel Kenevel's latest stunt.
We all rode stripped-down Schwinn Stingrays, usually painted flat black. If you didn't have a Schwinn you at least used a Schwinn handlebar stem ("gooseneck") and front fork because the others would fail when you did jumps.
For your "street" bike, a 20" with a 3 speed hub or 5 speed derailleur, banana seat, full chrome fenders, and ape-hanger handlebars was the shit. There was no such thing as a "mountain" bike.

That old A went 60mph.. Only had a windshield..She lived over on Loretta ridge.. A quart of gas from her old mans tractor got me home.. I had to get home for morning chores..A good rutted road and you did not have to steer..

But, this should be no surprise, you have had a little more than 1 or 2 posts to introduce yourself.Eric wrote:And I don't think I ever introduced myself... hmmm. Wonder if anyone knows who I am.
I'm so old I remember when 7000 conversations was enough of an introduction.
I'm so old that when I got an internet solicitation from some stranger without introduction I was suspect.......of them.
I'm so old I remember when corporations were not people.
I'm so old most of the pigmentation in my hair follicles is gone.
I'm so old my new truck is 15 years old.
I'm so old I remember not seeing LEOs at soundcamps.
I'm so old, Mad Max was a major BM inspiration for me, not EDM.
I'm so old I remember the Black Rock Desert being famous because of the wagon train route.
I'm so old I remember when glow sticks only came in one size and color.
I'm so old I remember camping with my girl under the Cottonwoods on the hills west of the playa watching them set up the fence back in early 90s, thinking "this can't be good for the neighborhood", and murmuring "Freedom".
I'm so old I mostly use my phone just to make phone calls. When I realized my phone had a camera and I checked, 147 pictures of the inside of my pocket.

That would be shocking, but funny as hell. I was obviously quite ginger, but only about 16-17 when I worked there. Looked a world different. "Delta Valley Cheese" - it's also one of the reasons becoming lactose intolerant was so awful. We owned a damn cheese store - I love cheese! *sigh*FIGJAM wrote:I know, and I think I remember you from that time.

Re: I'm so old I remember when...
Back in the late 1950's, as a very young kid, looking forward to seeing pictures of "The Accident of the Week" in the National Enquirer" in the magazine rack at the drug store.
Horrible pictures of what happens to bodies in car wrecks, back when there was absolutely no design process to make cars safer. I still can't erase one those images in my brain... (yeah, thanks Andy Warhol for making a series of paintings from photos of same....)
And, down the street at Easter time, one could buy totally dyed purple/green/orange etc. baby chicks and rabbits. There were hundreds of chicks in the front window of the East Coast chain "G. C. Murphys Five and Dime." Only one kid I knew didn't let his die, and his parents went nuts with his full size pet rooster in total suburbia.
Not all was good, despite denial by 2014 politicians wishing to role back the clock.

When we respected books..
This year I was given a hearing book.. The doctor told me to write in it.. I could not bring myself to do that.. I added papers written on.. That old teachers ruler is still in the back of my mind..

I'm so old I remember all the cars and their years from about 1956 to 1959, but haven't a clue for model years any time since.
Still waiting to see that '58 Chevy turquoise color back in style...
And you know you're really old when you know the name of the attachment for the spare tire or what the panels on half the rear wheels are called.... and, what kind of freaks in the design dept. made this '58 Buick Limited Special?
