Burner Bus to Reno Airport

Post by Super » Wed Jun 11, 2014 10:28 am

Hi,

I'm planning to take the Burner Bus to Reno Airport on Labor Day. I'm going to get the 6am bus, but the flight I was hoping to take at 1pm ish is all sold out.

Does anyone have any experience of how long burner bus trips to Reno Airport take? 51/2 hours seems like enough time - I'll have only carry on luggage as my other half is driving to and from the Burn this year.

This will be my seventh consecutive burn, so I'm aware of exidous and potential traffic on the 447. I know burner buses depart BRC seperately from the exidous lines, but I just need an idea of how risky a 6am departure for a midday flight is on Labor day....

Many thanks,

Ranger Horsforth

Moved this to Transportation, as that the appropriate forum.

As for the answer - even though the Burner Bus avoids most of the Exodus line getting off the playa, it's taken me 6-8 hours from pavement to Reno before, and you know that Labor Day is going to be the worst traffic day on 447. Only giving yourself 5 1/2 hours seems to be asking to miss the flight - it just takes is one accident on 447 to mess up your entire schedule...
I would take the last Express bus out the night before, or book your flight for late Monday night.

Thanks for this, It sounds safer to travel later and take that extra day off work. Maybe I can use it to spell exodus properly ;)

Hello fellow burners and shutlle users !

I had similar concerns, it's hard to estimate to what extent the Burner Express can avoid Exodus-related traffic...
I'll leave Tuesday, with the last Bus (10 am). My flight is at 5 pm at Reno... What do you think ?
Are 7 hours enough ? I don't have any experience on Exodus on Tuesday, is it as bad as Monday night ?

Cheers !

In past years, Tuesday has been easy. Straight shot to the pavement, much much less traffic on 447. Now that BMorg has told people it's ok to leave Tuesday, I don't know if there will be increased traffic.

Personally, I'm giving myself extra time. I'd rather be checked in and sleep in a chair at the airport than miss my flight home.

I am flying out of Reno, through Phoenix to Detroit at 4:00pm on Monday, September 1. I plan on taking the 6:00am Burner Express bus.

Rather be safe than sorry. This still puts me home in Detroit at 1am urrrrgh. Where I have to drive home two hours and will crash land in my bathtub with my cats and dog and girlfriend. :P
