Blueberry Pancake Season On The Playa....

Post by Meat Hunter » Tue Jul 15, 2014 12:53 pm

My blueberry bushes on the farm are in full production. So far this year, we have picked, packaged, and put away enough blueberries to fill 2-5 gal. buckets.

From now on, they will be tapering off and we normally let the birds and critters have their share. But, the critters will not be completely finished before I head down the road to the Playa.

I fully intend to carry a goodly supply of fresh-picked blueberries in my cooler so that I can enjoy many a fine breakfast of blueberry pancakes with homemade sorghum molasses.

Last fall when I was pre-cooking butter beans (with bits of salt pork) for the freezer and for bringing to the Playa for myself, I was corrected upon by someone on e-player when I offered a taste to a select friend or two and for not intending to have a food permit.

But, if you smell blueberry pancakes cooking on the griddle at sunrise, don't let that prevent you from stopping by for a morning "neighborly visit" and a cup of coffee

I may be able to resist your blueberry pancakes (with much restraint) but your turnips will not be safe from me, food permit or no!

There is not much that I can do if some thieving villain steals the food off of my personal plate when my back is turned.
