VERY useful burner looking for a Camp!!

Post by Caitoy » Fri Jul 11, 2014 12:54 am

Hi guys!

I'm Scott. I may be a virgin burner BUT I am an Ozzie guy with many super helpful skills for any BM camp.

I have run large overland expeditions throughout central Australia and throughout South America and Africa - organised everything, drove and routinely cooked large amounts of food for large groups of people. Maintain large trucks and coaches, even when they break down in the middle of nowhere I can generally find a way to fix them. I am an arborist turned professional driver and can handle chainsaws (+ sharpening chainsaws), ropes, climbing and rigging, accomplished mechanic, basic plumbing, electrician, carpentry. Im also super fun and friendly!

I have been attending and helping out at large festivals worldwide for over 10 years (many eclipse festivals including the one on easter Island where most of the party was build entirely by punters).

You guys totally want me in your camp!! I'm coming straight from BOOM festival in portugal which finishes 12th August and will fly straight to USA afterwards.

PS: I'm not this arrogant to say such awesome things about myself but this is actually being written by my super awesome sister who has a ticket and really wants me to come too!!!!!!!!

So do you already have a spot reserved in a camp that's full? Or are you worried that if you camp together as siblings you'll cramp each other's style?

Hi Scott (and Scott's sister). :)

Camps don't--generally--scour the Theme Camps forum looking for individuals; individuals tend to hunt down camps that look compatible and fun. So if you don't receive posts or PMs inviting you in, don't be offended or worried. Instead, send emails to a few camps in this forum that look interesting and particularly well-suited (not all of them). You might also click on the "Regionals" link from the main site and meet some other Aussies.

Note: theme camps are not required. A person as handy and outgoing as Scott is will probably not have a problem camping on his own and meeting the neighbors and visiting theme camps all day. The upside of camping without a theme camp is that you can come and go as you please.

Haha I would camp with my brother in a heartbeat if I could but that ship has sailed!
It's a long story.. But the world seems like it's trying to ruin every chance we have of securing his attendance to BM this year with me and our other sister.
Of all the skills he has the internet in anyway is pretty much a no go.. >_< I just thought I would put it out into the ethos and see what happened, because really, I know that the group that he ends up getting a spot with will be extremely lucky :)

Thanks to everyone for all their advice!

Hey Dude,

I'm organising membership for the Lost penguin cafe - http://lostpenguincafe.com/

We're a very estabilished (on playa since 2000) camp, and are pretty careful about who becomes a penguin - based on us being a hospitality camp, which despite having around 80 or so members each year, is very low drama. This year, due to some people taking a break from the burn and the sad passing of one of our members, we're lower on penguins than we would like, so take a look at our website, which although a little out of date will give you a strong flavour of how we participate at the burn. If you're interested in camping with us, let me know and we can get the process started.

Anyone else is also free to check us out...

Hi Scott, Sounds like you would be very handy to have around. Is this a 'ticket wanted' thread? You said your sister already has a ticket. Do you? Good luck. Hope to see you in the dust.

You guys aren't reading the message correctly, it's Cait, Scott's sister who wrote it. But in any case, Scott, Cait and their other sister Leigh along with some friends are all going to be Flamingos!

Scott, I'm glad you found a home, (and so quickly). The Eplaya provides.

Jovan, what makes you think we can't read? I know that Scott's sister wrote his post. All the replies were nice and made perfect sense.

I didn't say you couldn't read just the it appeared you were mistaken since you addressed the reply to Scott, not his sister who is who you were actually replying to.

Well, Jesus is very helpful, for picking crops and digging ditches and being a judge and all that, but Jesus is kinda useless. Well, if he demonstrably gave out eternal life, maybe that would be useful, but I think eternal life would just make the earth even more crowded.

He was also a carpenter and good at feeding large crowds. And he must have been a pretty good story teller too.

So, is this thread a wrap? Sounds like Scott has a camp secured and a couple dates lined up. Scott got it going on.

Man, I gotta get my sister to do all my posting for me.........

Just curious, is Scott considered an ePlayan, or is it only his sister?
