Any camps that are still looking for new members?

Post by palyokv » Mon Jul 14, 2014 9:48 am

Hi,

We are 2 guys, first time burners, that are looking to join some camp to have more fun, be a part and enjoy a community rather than being alone on a walking camp side.
I've already wrote to several camps that we liked in a camp list but no luck so far due to camps are full or just no reply back.

So I decided to give it shot and post the question here. Also I think many more people are still looking for a camp so this topic can be helpful for them as well.

Could you please make a post here if you are a camp that is still inviting new people?

Many thanks in advance!

I am with a camp that is still looking for members. By now, most of the camps have infrastructure in place (or are struggling to do so), and are working on the logistics of getting everything there and set up on time. We really don't have time to go back and forth asking questions over the internet to figure out what you want and whether you'd be a good fit. If you really want an answer from someone like me, you need to be very specific in your request.

Here's what I would need to know in order to give you a reasonable response:
Do you have a ticket?
Vehicle Pass?
Have you been to BM before? What years?
If not, are you ready to be radically self sufficient?
What city/country do you live in?
When will you be arriving?
What is your mode of transportation?
Are you available for Camp set up or tear down?
Would you be willing to volunteer at camp to help with our activities?
Do you have any special abilities that would be useful (electrician/welder/construction/etc.)?
Can you afford to pay camp dues?
When is your departure date?
Can you assist with the camp tear down?

There's not too many of us who are looking for paying members only, we need willing participants and people who can fill certain roles for us. What do you bring to the table?

If you're coming in mid-week, and want to get out quickly after it's over, it will be hard for you to find a camp here. Cash is only a small part the camp requirements!

Send me a PM if you want more info.

ey Dude,

I'm organising membership for the Lost penguin cafe - http://lostpenguincafe.com/

We're a very estabilished (on playa since 2000) camp, and are pretty careful about who becomes a penguin - based on us being a hospitality camp, which despite having around 80 or so members each year, is very low drama. This year, due to some people taking a break from the burn and the sad passing of one of our members, we're lower on penguins than we would like, so take a look at our website, which although a little out of date will give you a strong flavour of how we participate at the burn. If you're interested in camping with us, let me know and we can get the process started.

Anyone else is also free to check us out...

We are a small bar theme camp. We have had some campers from our group who have had things change and won't able to attend this year for various reasons, so we have some extra space and we can accommodate some additional burners/tents. We do have some camp "dues" so to speak (PM for details if you're interested). We have been placed in the 5 and B area. We are open minded, mellow and just ask that you help at the bar on occasion.

We have a big bar, playa couches and structures (public and private for campmates), shower, generator and stereo/music, water in large quantity, kitchen etc. This will be my seventh year on the Playa, all of our SLC based campers are experienced and welcoming. We are a fun and drama free bunch and would love to meet some newcomers.

PM me if it sounds like your cup of tea

Thanks,
Truckstop

You may have been drunk - all the posts in this thread are from 2014.

You camp-seekers may want to check out this thread about joining camps. Nothing tells a prospective camp that you're resourceful and radically self reliant like you making the effort to read through the published list of camps or browsing camp listings on the board and actually finding a camp to join.

The French Quarter Bakery is still looking for new members. it helps to love baking or some aspect of being in the kitchen (clean up duty works for us too) and to be willing to spend more than a half day in the bakery during the Burn.

See JayBobBoy's post for his list of questions.
