Does anyone have any experience using Lumicord for marking guy-wires or other camp hazards? Specifically, does it retain sufficient brightness through the wee hours?

Re: Lumicord
It's a pretty new product so I don't know that anyone has tested it at the burn. I imagine the dust might fuck with it's ability to charge effectively. At any rate, be aware that it has two brightness levels and the bright one you see in pictures only lasts 10-60 minutes. The "afterglow" is much dimmer and might be too dim. Green is easier to see than aqua for what that's worth.
If I were you I'd get a small piece to test this year and have other plans/a backup plan for this year.

Re: Lumicord
On first look, Lumicord might have some real possibilities. My only concern is how bright it might be after 6 hrs.
It is to late for me to change direction for this year. I think that a little later I might purchase a bit and experiment with it to see if it has real Playa potential for next year.

Yeah one of my picked some up playa last year. basically useless on the playa. It quickly dims to useless levels real fast. There is simply too much light pollution.
Maybe in deep playa? or maybe indoors with zero other light. Basically no better than other glow in dark anything I've seen.

Might look cool as decoration under a blacklight.

Re: Lumicord
I used it last year and it did absolutely nothing. Soaking yarn in glow paint would be as effective. Not worth it at all.
Re: Lumicord
One of my campmates tried it out last year and it was utterly useless on the playa. Seriously, it barely glowed at all, it made glowsticks look like the sun.

Re: Lumicord
Although I have never tried this cord, every glow in the dark product I've ever tried has been useless as such on the playa although most will fluoresce under a black light there.
I'm not sure whether it is due to the dust film preventing it from charging or the dust film blocking most of the luminosity.
I've tried numerous products ranging from craft store paints and plastic GID stars and beads to obtaining powdered GID pigments and mixing my own clear paints and silkscreen ink with them. All have worked well pre playa and post playa but not at all on the playa.
My guy lines are orange ratchet straps for better visibility. I illuminate them with solar walk lights atop the rebar stakes they attach to. In 3 years of using that setup no one has gotten hurt, but a more complex setup may need a different solution.
