Is bleach necessary for very small graywater evap setups?

I used a pesticide sprayer for a "shower" last year, using a biiiig towel hanging in the sun to evaporate the small amount of graywater made (likely a half gallon or so). Only did that a couple of times (baby wipes the rest of the time). My wife is coming with me this year, so I'm bringing more towels and a small kiddie pool/tarp combo so that we can both spray off most of the days. I'm expecting the towels to be able to accommodate the water most of the time (maybe we'll have to re-dip the towels a few times).

Should I use bleach for disinfecting the graywater, either before mopping it up with the towels, or in case of standing water in the pool? Or is bleaching your evaporating graywater just a concern if you're also using it for kitchen-related stuff or dealing with large, stagnant volumes? I'd rather get away without handling hazardous chemicals if possible, but I also don't want to create a biohazard. (If it matters, we'll be cleaning off with baby wipes before showering to hopefully cut down on the grossness levels.)

The health concern with greywater evaporation is airborne "germs". The bleach kills them before they get in your nose.

You can avoid the danger of dealing with bleach by diluting it before bringing to the playa. Make a gallon jug with a pint of bleach mixed with water to make it less toxic, and adjust your mix ratio accordingly.

If all you're using the evap pond for is shower water, I don't think bleach would be necessary. We have never used it. But again, that's just my opinion.

Until the luck of the draw has that drunken fucktard who's just ate some "shrooms bra'" stumbles through your camp at 4am and vomits in the kiddy pool.

I'd highly recommend at least one of those spray bottles of kitchen cleaner with bleach, for all those things you didn't consider.

Yeah, would recommend a splash of bleach in any standing graywater before evap-ing. Regular laundry bleach is fine and not that hazardous, just don't breathe it directly and try not to splash on your skin, etc, the same precautions you would use at home. Just to be safe; the wind can send a lot of tiny droplets a long way downwind and it's best if the water has been sanitized.

Maybe a small bottle of "non-splash" gel bleach would be easier to transport?

Add your own water and mix.

I just read that bleach loses its effectiveness with time, and we should buy a new bottle every year. (Maybe that is marketing hype, or maybe not.)
