Now that the dust has settled on this year's placement, we know that something like 80 theme camps didn't get placement this year, and are now figuring out how to participate this year.
This year, Baggage Check did get placed, but, through a quirk of geometry, we ended up with more space than we need. Our Placers suggested that we "adopt" a theme camp that didn't get placed to fill in the space that we don't need, and allow that camp to have a locked-in location in a vibrant theme camp neighbourhood (we've seen a sneak peek into what Machine and Panty Free have done with the new & improved 6:00 sector, and we LOVE it).
The "extra" space we have is roughly a 50x150 space, and it's on a corner lot (the corner of 5:45 & I). The camp we're looking to adopt would be a camp that really embodies the 10 principles (especially participation and leave no trace!), who would fit in that space, and who will complement Baggage Check well.
If you didn't get placed this year, post a reply that describes your camp, and we'll start a conversation. We're going to be posting this on Facebook and a few other places, and we'll pick an adoptee by the end of July at the latest. This isn't first come first served - we'll pick the best fit we see.

This is great. Flamingos FTW did something similar and adopted a camp whose village kind of fell over so they didn't get an app in. It's working out well for both camps so far
Best of luck to you!

Good luck, and remember... you're still on the hook for making sure everyone in the parcel does their part LNT-wise.

I'm afraid this is no longer the case
Make sure you have a really thorough conversation about expectation before you agree to anything.

Just a curiosity question - the 2014 BRC City map shows the area that includes the corner of 5:45 and I as not reserved for theme camps but is open camping. Same with the corner of 5:45 and H on the side of the street away from the man. Where are you guys placed? We are usually camped in the general neighborhood.

Re: Baggage Camp is Calling all unplaced camps!
Hello Baggage Camp! Alas we were one of the 80 camps whom did not get placement. We are a group of 10-12 (2 pending tickets) and we like to go bananas! Our camp name is Let's Go Bananas, we gift bananas to anyone who will listen to a fun fact about the whole fruit. We have a large 25 X 25 X 20 shade structure, engineered to withstand 50 MPH sustained and 90 MPH gusts. We also have a brand new art car that is a covered wagon with canvases on the side for artistic paintings just back from Norther Nights music festival for it's "milk run" and everything turned out as expected, runs great. I would elaborate more but there is too much to mention. We wanted a 30 X 50 spot but can fit into smaller. Please send an email to the art car at [email protected] and I can forward our camp map that we submitted and give more general info. Thanks!
