Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Made a steel plate to make a removable panel on my ported subwoofer box, as part of my mobile PA project. The original plan was to use two 12" PA speakers, which are plenty loud, but have very little punch. My solution was to convert a pretty solid computer subwoofer to 12v and stick it in the mix.
Also took delivery of a beastly 48" Hi-Lift farm jack. At the same time one of the most useful, and one of the most dangerous hand operated tools you can buy. After repeatedly bending my 6 foot iron pry bar last year (and enduring the bodily strain associated with such) I decided to use something a little more direct to remove stubborn tent stakes. As a bonus it can be used as a come-along and a clamp.

I just finished brewing my last batch of beer for the Playa. Now I have 160 pints worth of beer fermenting on my kitchen table.
Its a beautiful thing.
Now I can work on the 100+ other things I need to get done in less than a month.

Off the top of my head.... That bike is not legal in BRC. Only electric "assist" motor is allowed. Terribly sorry to spoil your joy. Bought a case of Tecate, a case of Miller, a case of Watermelon flavored beer, a gallon of pre-made margaritas, a gallon of pre-made Pina Coladas, a gallon of rum, a half gallon of Tequila, slim jims, pretzels and beer nuts. The Last Bar on Earth/First Bar on Playa is slowly coming into 2014 play.

Larry's favorite summer beer is Shiner's Ruby Redbird, a grapefruit beer. I think it is tasty, for beer. Yes, he is bringing a case.

Yeah, that's the shit, it's great beer for when it's hot out and the beer is cold. Hey, you have a mobile sound system? I also took a 2 year collection of old and failed tents, blown out zippers, torn rainflies, to the dump today. And talked to the boss man at the camp I'm throwing with. But are those items?

oh yeah, I'm with you on this. Still haven't made my enclosure for the amps or the subwoofer, and where does the battery go? I'm working on distribution wiring for horn, lights, and the two amps, and trying to figure if I want to keep things separate and modular, or just put everything in the same box.melodiousdirge wrote:Last night I made a power cord - 12v lighter socket on one end, banana connectors on the other, so I can plug my 12v subwoofer into my 12v stereo. So, I bought some red and black 14ga wire, and a small beach umbrella. It's going Seuss on me.

Just spent 2 hours installing the new, special order trailer bumper hitch and bike rack. Everything fit and worked togethet great until… I tried to put my "girl's " bike on it. I can't figure out how to put it on the damn thing. All illustrations in the directions are for men's bikes. Anyone got some tips on this?

It's been a while since I've put one of those bikes on a rack, but I'm pretty sure they work the same - the bike will just end up at a funny angle instead of appearing straight. (The front tire will be tilted down.)

Thanks Ellorum, I'm looking into getting a pair of those adapters from the place I got the rack. I just wish I'd realized I needed it sooner. SIGH!
Going back to look at FigJam's instructions for tent evap unit again. I don't suppose anyone's done a mini version of it yet?

I need to add that it is really silly of me to panic and as the stallion said I'm never going to have enough that I won't have to tell someone I'm sorry I'm out. That's soooooo hard.

Don't be too disappointed, EmilyD... +100 to what Elorrum said.
I'd call talking to campmates or camp leaders items, LonesomeBri... it's something you needed to do, woohoo for getting it out of the way. And hooray for that dump run. There's a couple things I'd like to get rid of in our storage space too, but I think I'm going to try and see if I can get around that until after the burn. And woohoo for knocking out a bunch of bar stuff. We're doing pretty good, but I still need to get us sorted for beer and a few other items.
AntiM, I think I remember that beer from last year - did he have that last year as well, or am I confusing it with some other exotic concoction?
Woohoo for the shelf stable milk, meat hunter. I don't know how much my gf gets, but it's plenty.
I got a ton of plywood today for the work sessions I've got coming up over the next week, as well as a couple other projects. A prep table, 6 cooler tables, and pieces I'll end up using for the bike racks I need to finish designing and prepping for the cut. I also got us a new jumbo bag of zip ties, a drill bit set (last year's set came back with a couple missing and a couple broken bits), and some oversized bins I'll be able to use to store our bigger tarps. We also got all the contracts and details sorted on a shipping container for our camp, I feel we've leveled up in the world of playa logistics. W00t!

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
TK, it's probably important for you to come to terms with that. Look at it this way... Kostume Kult brings out more than a TON (yeah, 2,000lbs) of costumes to the playa every year, and they go through them all.
Do what you can, and feel good about that...because it's awesome. People can always bring their own thing to dye, right? Encourage people to bring their tee shirts or polos or other trappings of defaultia and you'll imbue them with playa magic and let them dye with dignity
For us, with pickles, we figure that if we had the money we could probably back up a whole truckload of the suckers and they'd still be gone - I think it took only 15 minutes to go through a gallon jar. So what we do is divvy up the supply we're able to bring by day, and then just do that amount. A little bit each day keeps the workload easier (for us), and also makes it a bit more spontaneous and random, which is also fun in its own way.
A neighbor one year had a great little bar that was open only occasionally. He had a few hilarious signs that he'd put out front, "opening soon" "opening any time now" and "you just missed it" stood out as being particularly funny.

Possibly - I've only got limited experience with tye-dye (but bonus points for it having been in the 70's), the dyes I've messed with worked on pretty much everything.

Oh well, it's still an awesome bike, and he can just take the motor off if we have to. Might actually make it easier to pack. But I'm going to ride it super fast up and down my street for now.

Trilo, Larry always has interesting beer in the cooler next to the PBR (or Tecate). It well could have been the Redbird. I also like it when we find Kona Pipeline coffee beer, but I think that is only bottled, not canned.
