Re: Fuck!
Fuck!
My favorite risk management maven at our central office who had retired 5 years ago just passed away. I remember she actually had the guts to come out wearing heels on an active drilling site, gave instructions to the drillers on heavy lifting, and EVEN DEMONSTRATED HOW TO LIFT 70-pound drill rod so that they wouldn't get back injuries. She was one of a kind, called it like it was, and was primarily concerned with the same thing we all are now - everybody goes home safe and uninjured at the end of the day to our homes and families. This was back in the days before 'safey first' on the job became fashionable. She also fought for the reality of our jobs. Some young engineer wanted us to use antifreeze to drill with so that we could be out when it was 10 below zero getting him the information that HE wanted (no regard for the men at all). She backed me 100% when I told him the men didn't need to be out in those conditions. My reasoning was that if we used antifreeze in the circulating water we'd be pollutiing the groundwater. She added the men's needs to it, and we won out.
I'll miss you Jean. Keep it safe for us all in the beyond. We'll be there soon enough.

Re: Fuck!
Here's a fuck for y'all.
Our 2013 regional was held at an awesome private venue on an old farm in the middle of nowhere. Brooks, paths, trees, confused critters, the whole shootin' match.
One of the organizers thought it would be a great idea to load some illegal fireworks into the effigy right before it was lit...
It launched shells in a heavenly direction with a few towards the crowd, no injuries. Except one.
It has effectively killed the venue. We were not allowed to return there this year.
I spoke with the caretaker last week and he told me that because of the fireworks incident that they are allowed to hold one event per year instead of the six that the county had allowed previous to our 'surprise'.
This is MOOP of the worst kind, the kind that never goes away.
We killed the venue and the owner's primary source of income.
This can't be allowed to stand. The organizer in question should lose his position at the very least and perhaps the LLC sued at the most.
My question is this: What can be done about this. An email to the ORG? Haul the organizer to civil court?
Whatever is done, I might end up rather unpopular in my area (you should see all the fucks I give about that), at least with some. I feel that I have more friends that will stand with me than against me. But it's a small price to pay in an attempt to make amends to people who have been wronged by our group actions. Radical inclusion includes taking responsibility for others actions even when you didn't personally take or approve of those actions.

Many hugs for you Rhino. She sounds wonderful and kickass.
Fox, that sucks. I don't know what would be the appropriate action, but would be interested in hearing what happens. We just had a death from someone running into our flaming effigy. No telling where that will go, but it can't be good.
Fuck, huh?

We are fortunate that there is free professional help open to everyone. I am immensely relieved I was in the back with the fuel cart. I did watch the video to get it clear in my mind, but that is much different. The whole community is still reeling, but seems to be pulling together. I fear some will take a long while to heal.
And fuck. But not fuck that guy. Seems like he got over his head with a substance better left to indigenous peoples with spirit guides.

The day before, Larry was wearing his Keep Burning Man Potentially Fatal shirt you gave to him. Now I am pretty sure I want to write a note on the shirt and put it in the temple. Not sure he can ever wear it again in fun. But then I'd have to deal with the years of family deaths which have been the reason I avoid the temple. Fuck.

A few weeks ago I received a notice for my car registration renewal. Yesterday, technically anyways, I went to the DMV to renew it. $296 FUCKIN dollars for a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. $263 of it is a tax write off.

It's hard enough when you live alone with no one to talk to except the cat (and I do, believe me) to face death if you know who passed away. She's not the first person with the department whose passing I've had to mourn. I also remember the Dude. Dude could run a heavyweight drill like it was part of him, and always shot straight with me on what was going on as we probed the foundations for literally hundreds of bridges. In 2010, I raised a glass of Busch beer mixed half and half with Spicy v-8 in his honor at the temple burn, and drank it. It was his favorite. He was my friend and co-worker, as was Jean.
I'm growing older, too. I know that some day hopefully far in the future it will be my time to pass on as well. Those who have gone before me I miss, but I'm happy that they're not suffering. When it's my time, I hope others will simply remember me and what good I tried to do, and be happy that I'm not suffering either. We're the sum total of those good memories that we carry with us of all of those who've gone before, and so I hope to be a good memory for all.
Time will heal the wounds, but the memory remains.

I think, therefore, it is*.
The only thing I would add is that it's not limited to good, live every moment as if it's your last forever.

How I fucking miss all you guys!!!
I don't even know where to start with my fucks!
It's been nothing but fucking drama, heartache, depression, anger, and disappointment since December.
Dad has been misdiagnosed.....AGAIN..... and failing fast, my kids are fucking assholes, the roof blew off and
life in general just fucking sucks. When it rains it pours, and it's getting deeper.
I have 26 days to get on the road, and I have actually no way of fucking getting there.
I think I will go join Elliot at his hospital

It's 9.27pm. Somehow I doubt a USPS truck is gonna be pulling up this late
No doubt my beanie's are forgotten on some truck for the night.
