I fucking love that pic!

Why the fuck is it that whenever you try to do something on your computer, like say, network two of them, or install a service upgrade, it fucks up your computer and you have to spend all fucking day trying to fix it? There's always at least one program that doesn't like the changes you've made, in this case being the one that has all of my customer data in it. And that day is holiday so it's fucking hard to get help with it? And in the end you just fucking set the computer clock back to before everything was done and try to start over again? And then you get the guy to come out and try to network them a-fucking-gain? And fucking reinstall the new software for the fucking wicked new photocopier/printer scanner?

For some reason I thought it would go smoothly this time. Grrrr....

Joel: I know it doesn't mean much, but DVD came real close to my "Fuck-This-Fucking-Fuckwit-Troll!" list with this entry:
If it comes with the territory accept the responsibillity.

What kind of bullshit is it that you feel you just want some nookie but dont want to deal with the kids.

Imagine how the kids feel. Own up to the entire package.
The sentiment is correct, the direction it is aimed is waaaaaaaay off. He did clarify on the next paragraph... soooooooo.....

Raising children is a fucking art, and there are no art academies that you can enroll in. Each child is different, and each one has to be handled like a fucking soon-to-be-broken egg. All three of mine went through tremendous problems and turned out okay, but heres what it took:

My eldest had to be shot in Oakland by some crack addicts. Hospitalized for over two weeks, he came out with a new view on life. He has married, and he and his wife are expecting their second (their first is an absolute JOY) whom they plan on naming after my father; Jack. I tear up when I think of it.

My second, a girl, moved in with a white supremasist when she was sixteen and I was in no postition to stop her (I was living with an eighteen year old at the time), but, thank God, this absolute dickhead broke her heart, so she became what she wanted to be: an actress. She is so fucking good as an actress, she's even better than me (yeah, yeah... I'm a great actress) She's heading to SF next year to blow them away... hopefully at ACT or such....

My youngest was an absolute underacheiver; suited to only holding down a bar stool in some of the lower dives wherever he was living at the time. About six months ago he was stabbed... and it turned him around. He is now in love with someone that I could fall in love with myself. They are working together and someday will marry and carry on the Tzu family tradition.

What did they look like as teenagers? Scum o' the Earth, fit only for the refuse heap or the cesspool. What happened to them to them to change them? Dunno', but if it was the physical injuries, I wish that I had shot and stabbed them all myself when they were in their teens.

Each fucking child is different. And, if you are lucky... they will surprise you.

samtzu, thanks for the encouraging story of your kids. The kid is not not that much of a gamer, doper or drunk, though he has been known to do the last two. His main problem is that he is intellectually lazy and an adrenaline junkie, he likes to see how far he can go before he crashes and burns. He also way too good a accepting the crashes. I still have the ortho on my speed dial, maybe he is starting to settle down, other than the motorcycle crash and getting wacked on the head with a bat he has not done any major damage to himself in almost a year.

And, he actually did some fucking history homework tonight! I am beginning to really like his girlfriend.

SHIT, SILVER... YOU'RE STUCK WITH RAISING ME Sorry... that really struck me as ironic. My dad was a small town cop, and I often think that he seriously contemplated shooting me to death. I survived, and so did he (for several years at least). Hang in there. Find out whatever in the hell he is interested in (positive) and feed that interest to the best of your ability. In the end, it will be his salvation and yours... even if it is just fucking video games. Trust me on this one...

My motto:
Find what you, on the inside, love to do... and then do that to the best of your ability.
I have done this with acting, and it has made all the difference in the world.

Samtzu,

Don't have to worry about video games, he gave the playstation away; as far as what he likes to do hmmm. At this point riding motorcycles and engaging in physical activities with hot members of the opposite sex seems to be about it, oh and weight lifting. He is currently working for Ambercombie and Fitch and is hoping to be picked as a model in their next catalog.

Fuck. My apologies Joel. I never read this part till just now.

Why the fuck didn’t you say it was that type of situation. The way you originally put it, it seemed like some kind of Homework problem.

I'm not heartless. Yes I have been in some unusual situations which is why I came off the hook the way that I did ( as in you don’t have any idea what bad is.)

I have been in my share of problems somewhat similar and do sympathize.

Please accept my apology.

I don’t know how I missed that post.

I dont know. I have a hard time understanding what people go through in the same situation I've been in. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just having a hard time understanding it.

said situations are rarely the same...

for instance... did the children in your situation get molested as a 7 year old by an unknown male suspect? possibly his father?

for instance.... did the father of the children in your situation own 8K in past child support?

for instance... did the previous adult male role model's conduct a abusive relationship with the children's mother?

so, your difficulty understanding is exactly that... your difficulty.

[quote="DVD Burner"}
Guess it's the fucking same for Joel understanding me I guess.
no, it isn't the same DVD/Tony/Coyote... while i don't claim to understand you... which is of no consequence to me... i weigh my words far more carefully than you ever imagined... attempt proper grammar and i use a dictionary too.

so, there is very little about us that is the same.

the fucking nerve of some people... and especially those who claim an elightened state of being... which actually resembles bullshit from where i am sitting.
Okay, so I need some help here. We found a couple of these fucking things posted around the office when we came in this morning;

"Today is what matters.
Have you been kind to all of your fellow workers
today?
Tomorrow might be too late."

Do I call in a SWAT team or a shrink?

Joel:

Just think of it this way.. much as it blows now (and really, it sounds like you are doing a stellar job) they could have NOT been underschievers in HS and then turned out fucked up later.

My sister and i were both pretty on top of grades and responsibilities and all of those things that were bred into us. Now she's become anti-social and i'm, well... how can we say this? my poor parents fear for both my life and my soul. and that's without knowing the half of it.

Another thought: my brother, probably a certified genius (he got the smart genes in the family) sucked in HS and it took him eons to graduate college. He was (is) brilliant, but didn't turn in homework. In college he'd forget to go to exams which were worth most of his grade. He's finally done with that now... but for a lot of bright kids (sounds like yours fall in that category) school is just so damn boring unles that have some sort of accelerated or non-traditional classes.

Is there a running start program where you are? Sometimes that can be enough of a paradigm shift for people who hate school....

keep on doing what you're doing. i'd say they're lucky to have you as a father.

oh, and fuuuuck.

Joel,

I was pretty much a poster child for the type of issues you are describing. I was kicked out of three junior high schools and one high school. I spent half of my senior year locked up. Drugs, vandalism, theft, flunking out,- you name it. I made up 2 1/2 years of school in 1 year at the local 'alternative' high school. I did this by going to high school during the day, college (or work) at night.

Just a suggestion, but usually if a kid goes to a community college- they get a multiplier on any credits earned there- and it goes toward high school. And rather than 'forcing' a kid to be there- colleges can care less. I paid more attention at college than at high school as they didn't try to treat me like a kid. Childish antics are ignored, if you're not there- the college gets your money anyway. He would have to get a GED (or equivilant where you're at), but that would prompt him to try. There must be something at the local com college that he's interested in.
