HexaYurts and Zippers!

Post by ShreddinPB » Mon Jul 28, 2014 3:26 pm

Hey guys.. Was remembering what a pain it was to tape some of the hinges on our H13 yurt last year and was wondering.. who has used Zippers for their yurt seams?
I have read a little here and there, and think this is a GREAT idea!
Where do you get such zippers, and more importantly, how do you attach them to the rigid insulation foam?

Not a good idea. (At least based on the one I followed being built here on eplaya and actually saw it on the playa.) The zippers don't make a stable connection and the whole unit is wobbly. In fact, the one I saw on playa actually needed to put a pole in the middle to hold it up.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

You should totally do this thing that removes one of the core structural concept behind the hexayurt.

What could go wrong.
