Hey Gang, Found a really great web page on building a solar oven with cardboard, spray glue, aluminum foil and a little tape.
Great way to cook on the playa.
Enjoy

Looks like a fun project. Only conundrum is you can only cook hot food when it's hot and sunny! There's this awesome shit called propane though...

It does look interesting - also fun and easy, use the dashboard of your vehicle. Great for baking cookies, with the added benefit of your car smelling like fresh cookies when you go to drive out
Otherwise, I'm with the Captain. We've got basic camp kitchen stuff, and it's more than adequate for cooking what I want, when I want. Your mileage may vary, but for me the key is to have something I can have ready to eat in 10-15 minutes, tops.

Adding to this thread: a stock, small-block Chevy exhaust manifold makes a great place to bake potatoes wrapped in foil. Put 'em on, throw a couple of wraps of safety wire on them to hold them securely, and drive for an hour. Serve with butter, sour creme and bacon bits for pure tater satisfaction...

True that, I love to use my dashboard as well.trilobyte wrote:It does look interesting - also fun and easy, use the dashboard of your vehicle. Great for baking cookies, with the added benefit of your car smelling like fresh cookies when you go to drive out
.
Love being able to reach in, grab a can of hot soup and go.
This is more to make sure my chicken is cooked well enough and can get messy on the dash..
I use an oven bag on a tray with a thermo, add a bunch of veggies and potatoes in the bag at lunch, dinner is ready with an easy playa clean up, just dump the bag and go.
