Halcyon's Tips & Tricks

Post by Halcyon » Thu Jul 31, 2014 8:03 am

I just wanted to share a link to my (now 14) Playa Tips & Tricks videos. A good place to direct newbies, but many of them are about the Principles and can be good reminders even for the most grizzled vets.

Halcyon I've been at this long enough to be familiar with all that stuff but I still enjoy the hell out of your videos!
Highly recommended for new and old burners!

Since you have allowed the embed link to be copied, I assume that it is OK to include one of your videos on our theme camp website. But I just thought I'd ask to be sure.

Halcyon,
My Wife and I meet you in person in 2012. What a blast, you are a warm host and a great guy. Our visit with you made 2012 out best burn.
Watching your video was what made me go to Burning man the first time in 2011. Have a safe trip and hope to see you again.

Great to meet you in 2012 with my girlfriend. It was her first burn and I had shown her almost all of your videos to get her prepared. You literally appeared out of a cloud of dust, it was pretty cliché, in a good way :)

Thank you so so so much for these videos.

I watched all of these videos one after the other last year while holed up in a room in the Amsterdam Hilton feeling ill. It was my intro to Burning Man. I have fond memories of that despite how sick I was.

This video may have been one of the more important elements in keeping my son alive in the winter of 2010-11. The timeliness of it just blew me away.

"These AREN'T the best years of your life" - coming from someone clearly having "made it into the pink" from his own personal awkward times - was a real eyeopener for him.

I know in my heart that there are many out there who would like you to know just how much that particular message, with all its passion and potential, really means to us.

From the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU!!!

He kept it hid And so did she.
They searched for blue Their whole life through,
Then passed right by- And never knew.”

I'll tell you, you saved my life out there one dusty Sunday afternoon. I wasn't doing too well due to the loss of a loved one, not well at all. You brought it all into focus. Thanks.

ALL of them? um... I was young and needed the money. They told me nobody would ever see those. ;)

I look forward to that hug!

Thank you! What an honor. (But I tell you, it took me hours to coordinate that dust cloud entrance.)

I'm glad there wasn't a Pavlovian nausea response. :) Glad you liked the videos.

Wow, I didn't realize your frequented these parts. Your videos helped me get ready for my first burn and I shared them with the five virgins my camp is bringing this year. Thrilled to see you're still making them as I hadn't checked in a while. Seriously, thank you. :)

Thanks for all you do, Halcyon. :) Many a virgin I know has felt so much better and less lost watching your videos.

I visited your camp on Burn Night last year, and it was a wonderful spot to sit and relax for a moment and watch the world pass.

I'm Australian, pavlova is our national dessert ;) Also I wasn't nauseous so much as it felt like there were tiny critters crawling in my face
