Voided Tickets?

So if you buy a third-party ticket at face value, have the physical ticket in hand and it appears legitimate, it's not on the list of voided tickets... is it possible to show up at the gate and be told your ticket had been voided?

What happens then?

Are there any options for people that this happens to?

What about if you buy a third-party ticket and have it, etc. and then a week after that it pops up on the voided ticket list?

We're contemplating buying third party tickets and don't want to drive 40 hours only to be told half of our party can't come in the gate!

Is it possible - yes. Is it likely under the circumstances you describe - not really.

And now all the caveats: if the ticket you purchased from a third party does end up being voided, sadly, there is no recourse (which is the same with any third-part tickets you buy for any event on the planet). Thousands of tickets change hands every year safely, the likely-hood is that you will be one of those people. I just point out the negative because it's a possibility, not because it's likely under the conditions you describe.

From the ticket Terms & Conditions:

14. In the event I am obtaining tickets and/or vehicle passes for, or I provide any tickets and/or vehicle passes to, any other person or persons, I recognize that I am acting as that person’s agent in obtaining the tickets and/or vehicle passes, and due to this agency relationship I agree to these terms on behalf of any person to whom I deliver any of the tickets and/or vehicle passes I purchase, and I shall notify any such person of these terms when I deliver a ticket and/or vehicle pass to them.

17. This ticket is a revocable license that may be revoked by BRC for any reason, including without limitation assisting people with unauthorized or un-ticketed entry to the Event.
18. Refund and Cancellation Policy All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be issued for any reason. Fees are non-refundable.

Note: emphasis mine.
Section 14 means that the third party purchaser is bound to the terms the original purchaser agreed to (ie: all the Terms & Conditions), Sections 17 & 18 deal with the tickets directly. Just so you know the legalese.

I think the ideal answer would be "naw, they don't scan them, as long as you have a ticket with a stub on the end they can rip off, you're fine"

That, however, is an unreasonable expectation.

The voided ticket list is not fully updated - the ticket team has to take care of this, as well as all other ticketing needs. They update as they can - and, yes, there most likely will be more tickets added to the list. As I said above, if you have the scenario you described it's unlikely you'll get a voided ticket (you can see how small the list is, and last year I think it was less than 100 tickets). As in all of life, there are no guarantees, but if you feel comfortable with the seller, and the ticket isn't a straight-up counterfeit (if someone in your group has a real one, the fakes are easy to spot), you should be fine.
