Yes, where is the coffee? I have been hanging a steel roof for 4 days, two to go. (side work, as I am an antiques dealer). Luckily it cooled off last night for a day or two coming up. I sure feel better today. Shit. Get me back on the dust. Ygmir, I once had an asshole cement truck driver deliver 3 1/2 yards. Made me wheelbarrow the entire load 25 feet. Lost 3 pounds.

Three cheers and a tiger for good health, Mgb!
And good morning, all!

I seem to be ahead of schedule, so I must be forgetting something major. :?

There are 43 bicycles ready to roll, with 26 of them already loaded into Millicent. But next year I think I will cut back a little on the loaner fleet, cuz this is nuts!

Joeln - it's going to be terrible. Hot and dusty and miserable. You should just quit now while you're ahead. Obviously the rest of us fools haven't figured that out yet.

Seriously, though, there are plenty of veterans out there who aren't ready either, myself included. You're going to love it, I'm sure. And hey, I see that you're from Fort Collins...I grew up there! Hope to see you on the playa, always nice to run into a fellow Coloradan.
The playa isn't "home" to anything or anyone, it's not magic, it's just a goddamm camping trip. A really awesome one. -Captain Goddammit

*wanders in, makes CCC*

yeah MGB, I understand the wheelbarrow story:
my dad didn't believe in "concrete trucks" and especially in a cemetery, where things were tight and fragile. So, we'd (me) mix, wheel barrow and hand pour up to 6 yds of concrete at a time. "We" was me in our old 6 yd. dump truck, shoveling gravel, cement, and pouring water into a 4 sack mixer, dumping into a wheelbarrow, wheeling to site, dump, repeat. He'd spread, and finish, as we went.
When I'd complain, he'd tell me how lucky I was. When he was a kid, his dad would drive to the river, and he'd have to load their truck by hand, before pouring the next day.
I felt so humbled........(well , not at the time, but now). They worked hard back in those days, we had it easy, kids now have it more so, it seems.

ha! I feel like the "old guy" sitting talking about how tough it was in the "old days".........hahaa I am him..

and yay Joeln!! be excited! be scared! Anticipate, but don't expect! We've all been there, and know we're all here, if you have issues. But you'll be fine!

HI Elliot! Hi FJ!

gotta plaster/finish yesterdays concrete today, so, it's off to the salt mines.

ok, actual procedure was:
dump mix, add water from bucket on ground, jump back into dumptruck bed, add cement, and gravel, jump down, adjust water, wheel concrete while batch mixes, come back, dump, and start over.

I know.

It was just the way you wrote it.

I always used 5 gal. buckets to haul mud.

About 75 pounds apiece.

Not horrible until I had to carry them up 4 stories cause they wouldn't let us use the elevator!!! :x

Good morning. It's busy one over her. 9am and the coffee pot is already empty...
We're heading to the playa today for Meteor Camp- gonna try and see the Perseids Shower, assuming there's no rain shower!
I've got several "proof of concept" items that require the actual playa surface to test.
On the trip last year we (and BRC) were hammered by rain. Deja vu????

I have been madly sewing this morning; DC Container loads tomorrow.

Ouch, YG, what a bummer way to wake up! Morning, MDF, Was at the final pre-playa ARTery meeting at BMHQ last night. Load of fun. You all will have a ton of great art to see this year, with regionals from around the world and the US operating a Souk in tents around the Man round the clock from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. Should be great fun to hang out there. Also, pick up a new and improved Self Guided Art Tour map at the ARTery. Very cool.

In 14 days from now, we'll be about 2 hours away from being on playa setting up our camp in Hushville. Home sweet home

Cheers

Yggy - stinging insects in the bed/bedding are to be avoided. btdt

Marty - I saw the list of playa art that JRS linked to the other day and got very psyched.
My Mom's former boyfriend has been doing Burning man for 6 years and has been doing installations for I don't know how long.
Last year he did Cargo Song, this year it's Image Oasis.
Be real nice if I can meet up with him - haven't seen him since the 80's.

Ouch, Yggy, I sure hope that hurts less than I imagine it does.

Marty, woohoo! I'm ridiculously excited about this year, especially about the art and I don't even know much about the majority of the projects out there. But the handful that I've seen and heard some detail about are truly epic and wonderful. I look forward to seeing you out there, so so soon!

Well, another busy busy day ahead - lasers and errands and lots to paint, plus if I can get around to it packing some bins. Have a great Friday, folks!

Packing up begins this weekend.

All that dust, and I've got nothing to wear......lol

I'm in with the Beacon again, and things SHOULD go smooth, The problem is, as it always is, is that you never KNOW what will go on. Survival rule #1 - protect thine own ass. Rule #1 kicked two years ago when I got pulled over in Nebraska by the Nebraska State Police. The trooper will claim to this very day he wasn't profiling me, but I know better. He saw my prescriptions on the top of my bag, and that constituted enough for 'reasonable suspicion' He had me explain every single pill/Vitamin I took. The final one he said 'looked like a horse tranquilizer'. I turned it over, and it said......CENTRUM. My daily multivitamin.

His next words......"you can go now....." were music to my ears, and I was too tired to argue. Good thing I was carrying the ORIGINAL pill containers.

Made progress with the art today. Waiting for paint to dry to move on.

Oh yggy, ow!!!
I killed a wasp nest a couple days ago. I hate the bastards. Now and then one will get into the basement, and I don't know how. Not down the chimney, the flue is tight, and all the windows are tight. The thought of them hitchhiking in on me squirks me out. On the firewood, maybe. I am afraid I will step on one, or sit on one. I tend to swell up when stung, massively.
