Peace time on playa

Post by Xenai » Sat Aug 09, 2014 7:19 pm

We (or some) often venture into deep playa to find peace far away from the beats(noise?) in the city. Can we have a "make no noise" timeout for 10-15 minutes everyday maybe when the sun goes down. Just sit or lay down wherever you are ,kill the music ,stop what you are doing and breathe. enjoy the moment . It's beautiful to be in that moment and know that everyone around you is too.

Yes I know playa never stops but would be nice to take that peaceful memory with you along with all the non stop fun.

"keep Burning Man potentially quiet at sunset"?.......some such?

So you want 68,000+ people to stop everything they're doing & be quiet for 15 minutes, because you want to enjoy the sunset? This is when you invest in a really good set of ear-plugs, because the noise is going to be there unless you decide to come out to the playa when it's not Burning Man.

I thought we were supposed to howl at sunset.

I'm not into quiet time, but if you get the other 67,999 attendees to agree I will certainly comply with the Status Quo. Just let me know once everyone is on board so I can stop howling.

But brother/sister, that peace you seek is already within you. What you seek here is that everyone else conform to your desires, and on that path there can never be true peace.

You started right off with the answer to your own dilemma: go out to the deep playa, by the trash fence!
I do that a lot, it's great out there.

You know, after about 3 hours at Distrikt, I just need some quiet time, but it doesn't matter how nicely I ask the djs, they never turn off the speakers.

I absolutely need quiet time on the playa. Every day.

When I need quiet I find somewhere that is quiet and wow - its quiet. - not a particularly hard concept.

The only person I can expect to do what I want is myself, and at times I still don't get what I want...

No you can not.

If you can't find peace, one of two options will prove to be the best course of action. 1) Try harder (ie head further out into deep playa), or 2) Let it go.

There are 48 other weeks on the playa where the silence stretches for hours and days. Suggest you bring a monster boombox out there in December, turn it up loud for an hour before sunset, then pull the plug at that "perfect" moment.

Either that or spend $800 on some nice Bose active noise-cancelling headmuffs and hike out to the trash fence this year.

Now see, that is a fucking plan right there and I for one would love to see that!!! 8)

This is better than plan A because YOU are doing something instead of asking others to.

See the difference?

For me it's the smell, if everyone in BRC for 10 minutes every day could quit stinking, the Burn would be much improved.

Indeed, shouting the sun down has been a tradition for a long time and one that many people are trying to keep going.

If you want your embeds to work, you're going to have to uncheck the box that says "Disable BBCode".

And you might want to see if your humor detection devise is malfunctioning.
