FOUND IT!

This was WIERD. Never seen this happen in a drill hole before. And no, it's not buried tomatoes, nor blood. It's hematite in the core. Iron oxide. But I've never seen it this blood red before in the water return from a drill hole.

Sort of like last week's 'Twilight Zone moment'......
Blood-red return on Route OO.JPG
Like I said, I've never seen anything quite like it.

Rhino - I work for an environmental lab that does analysis for clients in the mining and oil & gas industries and some of the samples they send us are downright frightening. Never seen one that color before though!

something burning? something bleeding?

uh, o.k. FJ, easy does it on the hair fire, now.

everybody!!! yikes, why does the year go so slow, and then the last month I can get nothing done? I'm trying to finish, trying to pack, trying to shop, trying to keep moving forward.
I've already jettisoned projects for next year, and this, wait, no, LAST year, was supposed to be "next year" for some of them.

It's a vacation, and fun, and relaxing... HA HA HA HA HAH HA HHHAAAAAA eeeeeeeeeh ahem, erm.

soon, man, real soon.

unjon, you just reminded me of another story. One of my drillers before he retired was just a touch on the intellectually challenged side. All in all, a good fellow, though. We were doing some foundation exploration work in the Poplar Bluff area of Missouri, noted for its hard sticky red clay and chert nodule soils. He had made the mistake of leaving the shop with only 65' of earth augers on his truck, in an area that's noted for eating hundreds of feet of augers before lunch. He made the mistake of asking me if we were drilling to China.

"You don't want to go that far, Harry." (names have been changed to protect the guilty party)
'I ain't got augers to get there, burt why not?"
"Well, you might have some Chinese man crawl up and give you grief (I adopted my Carlie Chan accent and went to town with it.), like 'we know 'bout you all way in China, You so lazy, you put teats on hole to milk it."

Harry laughed uproariously. We completed the day with a production record., simply because if you keep 'em laughing, they're willing to work night and day and overtime for you without complaint. My men are like that. They're willing day in and day out to work themselves to a frazzle if they know someone cares about their well-being. Just a good case of leading the pack from the front.

Well, I was actually talking about the section I'm under here in Utah. It is slamming Idaho too, Larry is driving through hail. Welcome to the Western Monsoon. The Salt Flats flooded enough to cancel Speed Week.

Howdy Bar...

Things look sticky on the playa, yikes! But maybe this will mean low dust during the burn. Maybe...

Just had a great time with Bin Noddin and son this evening. It was a nice sort of pre-burn compression in our own way. And thanks for the hugs, MDF... Karine and I got them both!

Wish you could have made it, but perhaps we'll have some time open up yet before heading out.

(Sets out snacks)

A good evening all around.

hmm. I just now semi-frantically started to google the Gerlach webcam to see what the weather looked like. It dawned on me that it's likely to be night time and dark. DOH!

Hey LCN, nice to see you. Fishy!!! hey swim over here and have a drink with me.

I have a few non-essential projects to finish, and I'm feeling very slow witted. I really would like to bring them though. They've been in progress for a while. There's a lot of work at work to get through so I don't pay hell when I get back. Vacations seem to just push and concentrate tasks, I wish it meant that someone else would do them while I was gone.

It's all good. all good. I'm feeling very happy about being at Burning Man soon. Getting there and back are always a bit of trouble, but BEING there is so wonderful.
