How is all the aforementioned for slang?! Being a dorky, dropout, creative, addictive-personality-having "troll" and all....just trolling for a place where "everybody knows my name"! Or somebody just slap me if I'm out of line, preferably here on my bare back side.....gigglesnort wrote:ditto, I'm confusing the hell out of myself, but isn't all less confusing and nebulous if you think of it as one (or whatever ;)? One night at Cheers, Cliff Clavin explained the "Buffalo Theory" to his
buddy, Norm. "Well, ya see, Norm, it's like this. A herd of buffalo can only move
as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the
slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural
selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of
the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest
brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells.
But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this
way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the
brain a faster and more efficient machine!
That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers............"

I like the new avatar, Tony-tone. Not that Spookyhead was bad, though.
So, yeah, re credit, as a journo, I feel perhaps more strongly than some that the appropriation of others' work without acknowledgment of the source is wrong. That said, if the quoted material is something like a familiar song lyric, then I think a citation is not necessary. However, passing off someone else's work as your own, or not disclosing this fact when queried, is not right.
Guess I had a dollop of bitter in my coffee this morning.
