Exiting Playa Early?
Exiting Playa Early?
Hi All, I'm heading up Monday, August 18th to spend a week building a huge project. My question is this; I need to leave the Sunday or Monday to go back to the Bay Area to deal with some things, and pick up my wife to return to the Playa (I know, good husband), but I'm wondering how difficult it will be leaving with everyone coming in? I've never done this before. Or is there a specific road I should take out? Thanks for your help! -Adam

No worries, there is an outbound lane.

Man, your wife better appreciate you! I literally have had nightmares about having to leave the playa to drive back to the Bay Area to pick up <whatever I forgot> and then return.Admarz wrote:Hi All, I'm heading up Monday, August 18th to spend a week building a huge project. Don't forget, there is a $20 in-and-out fee.
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

I did this last year on Tuesday.
Just head for Gate Road and stay as rightmost as possible when you get there. The outbound lane will become self-evident. Odds are you'll be able to follow someone else out.
You'll stop at the shacks. You'll need: $20 CASH and YOUR TICKET.
You'll talk to someone who comes up to your car. You will lose $20, you will gain a rock-concert style WRISTBAND, and YOU WILL KEEP YOUR TICKET.
Then you head on down the highway and do whatever.
When you come back, you'll wait on Gate Road with all the normal shmucks. You'll need YOUR WRISTBAND and YOUR TICKET and YOUR WIFE'S TICKET. You will need to show all to get back in. If you do not have those, YOU WILL NOT GET IN.
I didn't have any problems.

I'm moving this to the Transportation board, since that's a better fit. Leaving is easy, however make sure that you stop at the gate to get your vehicle pass scanned/noted, as well as all the stuff maladroit said.
Unless you're hauling tons of gear as part of it all, you may want to check into the Burner Express (but do it quickly, bookings end tomorrow).
