Looks like my lead on a tent to borrow fell through, partly because of my own poor communication. I guess that's a negative item accomplished for the day?

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.

Thanks, Patsh! I'm not too worried, though I suppose I do need to get two things done today for that math to work.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Think back a bit. I'll bet there was a day, maybe not even that long ago, when you accomplished twice as much as you'd planned. That should afford you a real break today, guilt free, and not set you back.BoyScoutGirl wrote:Thanks, Patsh! So, on that note, I believe it's Friday Night, and time for a well-deserved drink!

Today's main item: Air up and inspect tires on bus and trailer, including spares. Found a nasty cut in one of the trailer tires. It might have lasted the trip -- or not. It's being replaced.

I am finalizing the food prep today and loading more gear into the van. Got to test my "sash of light" while riding the scooter last night....I didn't get run over, so it works great.
Took the van in for a final check up last week..it passed. Then hit the auto parts store for an air filter, some coolant and some oil...just in case...

Today I'm taking the day off from prep work. I'm going without the hubby or kids this year so I'm spending the day with them doing fun stuff. Off to the Mayan Hidden Worlds Revealed exhibit at the museum.

Packed the vehicle today, as we leave tomorrow. And there was extra room! And an empty Rubbermaid! This is the best.

Got in the spare bearings for the rhoadescar. Packed the boot bin. Bought individual hummus packs at Costco, plus a less fragile skeleton, a galaxy rug, a shade wing thing, and some pulled pork. Larry and the kids are out buying supplies to add a monkey hut to the end of the carport.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Last year I took the bike and trike apart and put them on top of my truck and that was a major pain!
So this year I figured out how to put the trike and beastie bike on the slide in hitch carrier without having to dismantle either of them.
The trike was too wide for the tray so I made a wood rack for it to sit on so the derailleur doesn't hit and bend.
(better explained with pictures which I am not able to upload at the moment)
Made a tutu out of an old bath scrubby and a piece of elastic through the middle!
When you take the tie string off of the scrubbies they are like a long mesh tube.
It took less the 10 minutes to complete. Now my sister wants to make a few more in different colors.
Also picked up a few cans of soup and raviolis.

putting a few more led's on the shakos for rear visibility. You are right, Sadie, some of this burning man stuff makes us super visible on the road when we are on two wheels. win win. Individual hummus and a better skeleton! I love the end shopping combinations, AM. Martiansky, scrubby tutu, can't wait to see it. Also the trike rack interests me, I'm still majorly disassembling mine to get it on the rack, or in the car.
re: the dj oontz streams. That was pretty much tongue in cheek. I can live with people having wildly differing tastes in music. I celebrate the fact. It does make me feel good when occasionally I can pull something out of my list that pleases others even if I don't care much for it. Fishy, Sadie, Lucky, you are all wonderful.

One of the last piece of the puzzle.
My wife went to a neighbors garage sale this morning and was gifted a new package of Edible Finger Paints because "You're going to Burning Man".

This is a shot of the wood cradle sitting on the mesh carrier
2 pieces of 2x8 with 2 short pieces of 2x4 as spacers and then a piece of 1 1/4 PVC pipe cut in half the cup the axle. Heres the rear axle of the trike sitting in the cradle This is how Im hoping to have the bike sitting partially on the back frame of the trike in the carrier.
In this picture the back wheels of the trike are sitting on the ground and I made the cradle for it afterwards.

Scrubby tutu
It could be fluffed a bit more, i took a quick picture.
Ellorum, do you have a slide in hitch carrier like the one in the picture?

That is so clever. You do great work.Martiansky wrote:Ellorum, do you have a slide in hitch carrier like the one in the picture?
no, I have the kind that straps onto the back hatch and bumper... the bike hangs. I'll take a little more time with it this year, maybe I can at least keep the rear axle on, or find the (@#$%$$#&***^%%!!!) quick link in the chain (wear glasses when disassembling a bike) and have it in a neater arrangement. I hadn't really thought of it, but I might try resting the frame on it's side with the rear axle vertical. It's a very short frame, but then the fork would stick out... I'll see. eh, I'm getting used to taking it apart every year.
love the tutu.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
UGH! Surprise purchase of two new front tires for the van and discovery of really bad rust on the hitch weld but thankfully it'll get me through this trip. It seems like all I'm doing is going from room to room moving stuff into different piles all day long! There's the Drive Up and Hotel pile, the Playa Work Clothes pile, the Playa Play Clothes, the Food for Me, Food for Camp, Equipment for me, Equipment for Camp...OMG it's making me dizzy. I'm sure I'm not the only one going in circles! At least they're productive circles but damn!

Had 8" of my hair cut off, and the rest buzzed.
Purchased $25 worth of socks.
Also, I love you guys. Thanks for being supportive of everyone's projects and being so kind to offer help when you can. Our tent situation has been kindly resolved for us, for which we're grateful.

I got one of the two issues with the solar generator working today...the meter is now metering.
Looks like the charger is a dud from the factory. The manufacturer will replace it, but I don't know if they can get it to me in time for this trip....gonna give it a shot though.
Spray painted over a little rust spot on the van.
