BEST ROUTE FROM LA TO BRC WITH AN RV

I'm a total noob and everyone on this site has been so uber helpful!

Had a question - I'm trying to avoid big gas guzzling areas on the road, such as hills, in my RV - BUT trying to get to BM AS FAST AS I CAN (of course not going over speed limit)

I'm coming from LA and I wanted to know from experience - what you think would be the best route?

I studied the guide/website and I just dont know which way to choose!

My friend thinks 5-99-80
Another friend says 395 to reno would be the best

Your thoughts?

Yes, I'm aware of that and read thru it. Just trying to get public opinion to see which one would be the best to take w/an RV. GRACI!

I'd take the 5, it is an interstate and safer road not to mention the 395 could have police traps like last year. Even if you aren't carrying libations that they may not approve of, the hwy has potential to backup quickly if there is one or if there were to be an accident of any sort.

We took 5 to 80 2 years ago. Theres nothing wrong with it, but the 5 is about as un-scenic as it gets and the climb up 80 is a drag.
Last year we took the Spooky Desert route except that I didnt switch to ALT95 in Schurz. I stayed on 95 into Fallon, got fuel, then took 50 into Fernley.
Its a few miles shorter that way and the gas stations in Fallon wernt full of RV's.

I think, generally speaking, the climb on US395 is a little shorter than the climb on I80.

(no actual data was leveraged in making this assessment, lol)
