Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2014
Panic is now an option.
Last year I had five bins of art. I just packed what I have ready, the smallest bin is near full, three others are almost half full, although I am painting like mad to get more finished. I have half a dozen pieces too large for the bins. I have gotten some amazing art in the mail from AncientBurner, but another one of my regulars has not been able to contribute this year. A shame too, they do good work in a number of mediums. I do know I will get some awesome donations, and I am still casting on Fishy's fabulous finds.
Look around folks, any art will do. Even old calendars and postcards!

I'm sorry to let you down, AntiM, but with moving in the past couple of months, and I didn't collect as much this year anyway. I'll do what I can, but that may be nothing...

I still have some of your generous donations from past years, you have done so much already, it even makes a difference today. I completely git it about your move, that is a top priority. Next year will be time enough. You rock, and I need to tell you this often.

You both rock and need to be told it more often, so there!

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2014
i packed approx 20-25 drawings and sketches i found that had been thrown out....
wayward, very wayward...
i packed them in the carton that got shipped out west, i'll bring them to you with your butter nut extract...
and i still have the piece Fishy gifted to me in 2011, it's called tu-tu tuesday....it sits in my workshop.

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2014
So mere days before we roll, and I am painting furiously, someone wants to purchase one of the pieces destined for the Home. I am compelled to not sell Home art, although earlier this year I made an exception. So close to the event, it weirds me out; I do not want to disappoint a non-burner friend. She sees that I will be giving it away, why not sell it to her? And to top it off, it is a dressed up donation originally from Fishy!
Am I over-thinking this? Gah!

You are not a professional painter nor a professional gallery owner.
You may suffer from that thing that some american women of our generation have about not valuing ourselves and our work as we should.
It may be weird to switch tracks like that.
Could you trade for something she made or something on her walls that she's ready to get rid of?
If I gave it to you, I gave it to you without strings. I gave it to you trusting that you would liberate it from the grabbing fingers of its past as a discard.
Okay, I'm babbling.
Do what feels right to you.

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2014
You're welcome.
And thank you. The Home has given me license to rescue all sorts of amazing and strange art, safe in the knowledge that I don't have to give it wall/shelf space. It's been fun for me. I do have something I pulled out of a pile of stuff on a neighbor's verge last week, my first Richmond acquisition. You'll get it when you get it.

I totally regret not grabbing this piece with a mariachi or ranchero singer on it ... didn't really know the protocol.
Looking forward to checking out this year's offerings!

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2014
Protocol? Can it loosely be defined as art? Is it wayward (not a complete prerequisite)? Is it not food, not a costume, not MOOPy? Is it cheap or free? Then bring it. Hang it on the Home. That's about it. I never see a portion of the art, it comes and goes before I see it.

I didn't know if I could just grab what was hanging. Sounds like that is the way to do it!

48_love, there are also adoption cards so you can describe what grabbed your attention about a piece.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2014
It's the little 2"x 6" painting in purples and pinks with a figure in what looks like a Yoga pose with hands pressed together over his/her head. I picked it out before realizing that it was painted by you. It is simple and wonderful (and no longer wayward).
Thank you!

And my adopted piece is in the photo. I just emailed the photo artist. You know antim, the guy that just moved to the bay area.
