Well I feel pretty stupid for watching that on iPhone while trying to work, sort of.

I think the rephrase should be something like "well I feel pretty stupid for sort of trying to work while watching that on my iPhone". The beginning and parts of the middle were spectacular!

...tho I suppose there wasn't much to see on an iPhone...

To give people who've never been an attempt to show how big it is, here's a crude join of playacam snapshots into a sweep of the playa, from the North arm on the left (you can just see its end ~1/4 of the way in), across the playa to the South arm (its end obscured by blowing dust) to just inside of center camp.

Video is from Friday, around sunset.

Next year, one of those webcam shots will show a white cabin cruiser anchored on the playa in the mornings with the coffee maker on, serving what you can't get at Center Camp, and for free.
I've got a frother on board, and kahlua, baileys, whiskey, Frangelico, RumpleMinz, amoretto, everything to make REAL coffee. And even a toaster.
Next year....

But hey, all that shit's here in my kitchen, excuse me for a moment, I have to go do something :)

Just remember that you're not allowed to tie off to playa art works, including the man.

The First Mate, a couple campmates (also off-playa this year) and I think the Land Yacht cruising the early-week high seas gif is hilarious!! :)

It wasn't me, it was my evil twin. I don't know why you kept the umbrella up.
I went back and looked at the precip-radar snapshots from last year. Last year, they could have had easily as much as 40 to 60 times the water fall on BRC as they saw on Monday this year.

That's just quick and dirty.
Doing it right, you'd take 1/3 out of the middle of more shots, and balance them all as to exposure & colour.
Wait until people get back from the playa with hi-res shots.

So I'll tell ya what sucked... I was in Ballard (hip neighborhood just north of downtown Seattle) with the First Mate, to paint her son's new condo. Right at 9:30, just when the Man was gonna burn, the power went out all over the area. We had to finish painting with our iPhone LED lights... also, the local cell carriers were overloaded immediately, so we lost the feed for Ustream, couldn't watch the burn, couldn't get internet at all. Just right exactly then.

I got to watch most of the Man burning. But my feed froze twice (had to refresh the screen) and it went "off air" three times, the last missing when the man fell.
The rest was great to see.
Then I slept in and didn't get to see people out making breakfast on the coals...

But from the recordings...

Sunrise after the Burning of The Man.

And they followed with some pans of the city & playa. BRC looks special in the early morning light.

Just before the man burned, there was some audio on the feed talking about how there's always some surprises with the burn, with no one to know before hand what they are. I wasn't expecting this one.

Hmmm. That's when I chose to go get some mending to do while parked in stream, so I missed it. How's it looking out there, Canoe?
