Left camp at about 10 AM on Monday morning, fearing the worst since we had some delays. The first time we came to a stop was about 100m from the pavement when we were already on gravel. Smooth drive all the way back to Fernley as well. I've only experienced two exodus..es- exodi? Whatever, this was a huge relief. Like 3.5 hours total to the diner in Fernley.

Left camp at 11:30 AM Monday and was on the pavement in 30 minutes.

It took longer to get to Gerlach than it did to leave the playa!!!

Left tuesday morning. First time we hit the brakes was for the stop sign into gerlach.

Left camp aT 12:10 Tuesday afternoon, pavement in 36 minutes. Had to slow down a couple times due to total white out conditions fairly close to the pavement. Slowdown on 34 before Gerlach and came to a complete stop a couple times; looks like it was the stop sign in Gerlach. That's never happened on a Tuesday before. Once through Gerlach, smooth sailing. Was at the Sands about 4pm, but did stop in Empire to pee & get cigs, at Bunny's in Nixon to drop off food & get an NDN taco & at the Wadsworth rest stop to dump my tanks. Traffic was heavier than any other Tuesday I've left, but spreading out Exodus over 2 days seems to be a winning strategy.

Incredible exodus. Left camp at 1:19pm Monday - made a 3-minute detour to Burner Express station. Full speed (10 mph) till seriously 300 yards before pavement, then a 3-4 minute delay. Pavement in 44 minutes from camp. OTOH the trip from pavement to Gerlach took probably a full hour, after that pretty much full speed home.

Left camp at about 12:30pm Monday, was in Reno just about 4 hours later. We had the RV ready for a 6+ hour Exodus (water, food, reading materials, etc), never cracked them until we were cruising down 447, more to take up time than anything else. Only slow-down was the last bit of gravel before pavement, and, like others, it took almost as long to get to Gerlach as it did to get from camp to pavement.

Based on these replies, it sure seems like if you were in the group trying to avoid the rush by leaving at night right after the man burned (like us), that was the longest exodus. If you left the next morning, typically the worst time, it was faster. Same with after the temple burn. Everything we know about exodus was turned upside down. Weird.

I left at 10 AM Sunday. One hour and I was on 447. The shortest exodus I have EVER seen. Why? I have no idea, but I loved it.

I left Tuesday so of course there was no wait time. Just after Empire or Nixon I made a right at the 'Sparks' sign. I think it added an hour or two but it was amazingly beautiful.

I can't help but wonder if the car pass thing was I fact the golden ticket. Is there information anywhere to show the typical number of cars at event? Could brining it down to the 35,000 be the help we all have witnessed?

Monday: 7am... got up, tore down the yurt and put the last bins into the panel van.

Dead battery in the panel van delayed us a bit until 9am, when the battery was fully charged and ready to go. A stop to empty out our Apple Juice Jugs at the 3D portos and we were on our way at 9:30.

Hit gravel at 10:00 only stopping once to roll down my window and have the following conversation with the Collexodus dude with the megaphone.

Code: Select all

Mssr. Megaphone: What do you got for us?!
Me (In a different Dept. T-Shirt): I GAVE AT THE OFFICE.
Mssr. Megaphone: (Laughing) FUUUUUUCK OFF!
I was prepared for a day of waiting, and was disaapointed.

Left Center Camp Tuesday at about 10:30am. Hit pavement a little over an hour later. I've left on Tuesday three times now, this is the first time I ever had to do more the tap the brakes strategically to time a merge.

Left 8 & E at 11:50 am on Tues and hit pavement in 36 minutes. Shortest Exodus I've ever experienced. Fastest times in and out of the playa. Friends have also reported surprisingly short Exodus times no matter what day/time they left.

Left Monday at 1:15pm from 9:15/F. Got onto the 80 at 5:30. Most of the traffic was on the 34.

Left 3:30 I at noon, got to the pavement in half an hour, then got to Sparks by 3pm. Coming into the burn and exodus were the best ever this year... and that includes will-call (from my experience.. I've heard from others will-call was terrible.)

No wait, Monday night, 10pm.

I'm pretty sure pulsing only ran a few times, and the wait times never got to be more than three to five hours.

We did well at spreading out all of our departure times this year! Go us!

It took 20 minutes to get to pavement taking the Burner Express on Monday at Noon. We were estimated a 3 - 3.5 hours drive but it only took 2 and a half hours total to Reno Airport!

Exodus was a cake walk.

Left about 2 o'clock on Monday. Half an hour wait before hitting the pavement.

We left Monday afternoon and drove right out. No waiting, no pulsing, just a steady stream of moving traffic.

Left Little Alberta just before dawn Monday. Free-flow all the way to Reno.

Then shitty traffic from Tahoe back to the Bay Area.

Left camp at 5:15 and J at exactly noon on Tuesday. Drove the speed limit to the pavement. About 1/2 mile from Gerlach - dead stop. A few cars in front and a few cars behind swerved and scared me instead of having a safe distance in front. After the stop sign in Gerlach it was about 55 the whole way (minus the towns where it dropped) to hwy 80. We did make one stop at the Nixon store, but it was pretty cleared out by then.

Very good exodus. Let's do it again :D

Left camp 4 pm Sunday, 2 hours to pavement. Pulsed a couple of times. Arrived around 8:30 in Reno (stopped for Indian Tacos and garbage disposal) Not bad at all.

Left Monday around 5 PM after returning our loaner bikes to Elliot and breaking down remaining shade structure. Less than an hour to pavement. So decide to stop at Bruno's for final celebratory cocktail in honor of the quick Exodus. Swear to God: here's the place to stop if you're contemplating quitting drinking. Was waiting alongside another guy for service, finally said "See Ya" after about 13 minutes. (I'm patient, do this job for a living, but realllly???) Bruno himself behind bar, seemed perplexed by the credit card processing machine. I suspect he'll be very happy when the place sells!

So off we go, following thousands of tail lights. In middle of nowhere traffic slows to about 10 mph....turns out to be 3 head of cattle slowly walking south in northbound lane. Otherwise, 2 hours to the shower at the Sands. Thanks again for the rate, Doc!

I left on Sunday afternoon and it was about 3 hours in total. Thanks to my impromptu communities. I met some fabulous peeps and had a generally good time. Much better than last year's 9 hour debacle.
