All of which simply shows how childish I am. For those of you who thought better--not bitter--of me, feet of clay... The only feet I have left.

Back after an awesome first burn.
So many great people to meet and just a fantastic sensory experience.

Thanks everyone for the support over these last 8 months!
First thing to do at work is put in for the time off next year...

Glad you made it! I honestly agree, this year's burn was indeed a fantastic sensory experience.

My request for time off goes to the powers that be in January. It shoots most of my vacation time, the rest being used for the local regional.

This year might be different, though. I can retire in December with full pension. It's just that I love my work too much to let it go. Plus, there's the added incentive of 'backdrop', a full year's salary for every year I work past December 31 given to me as a lump sum at retirement, up to 5 years worth. And I'm only 54.

Have I got that right? Five more years at double pay, paid at the end of the five years? omg

Yep, that was FUN!

Highlight was serving Bloody Maryz on Sunday AM and making pancakes and grilled cheese for my camp-mates. I love the people I meet. It's cliche but -- 69,000 people and you somehow happen to meet the "right ones".

Oh yeah, and SK8 Kamp was f#cking EPIC ... got to skate every morning I was out there!

Enough about me. Well, almost enough.

I'm not sure I care right now. It's a little scary.

Hi Evereyone!
What a great experience. It was so nice to put actual faces with so many of you eplayans I've been communicating with.

Had a fantastic time. My mind is spinning with ideas and plans for next year.

It was a 3189 mile round trip for me - 204 gallons of gas  . Just rolled in at 1:00 this afternoon. Went and got a heppa filter for the shop vac and will start the unloading/cleaning process tomorrow. What started out so clean and organized is, well, not anymore...

Yay, welcome back Sadie!
More to bring is more to clean. I haven't really started, waiting for the weekend for the major pieces. Dishes, and clothes, and smaller items being handled as daily chores.
I want to do a thorough clean in the car before I put the passenger seat back in.

I've been eating salads like I never heard of them before.

I was so beat by the end of today's 7 hour stretch that I only brought in my purse and the few soda's I still had in a cooler. Everything else is still just as it was when I threw it in Sunday...only slighly shifted forward due to a close call with a couple of deer early early this morning...there faces looked like this  and my face looke like this  and then I was really awake...was almost an oops I crapped my pants moment... I got the worst gas mileage today too...fought strong head and cross winds all. day. long...

I will be cleaning quite a few things that didn't even get used. I have a better grip on how much to pack for next year. Way over packed the food and clothing.

I can honestly say I have never felt so completely comfortable and accepted as I did last week. Thank you for being you and sharing some of your burn time. It meant a lot.

Please do - I will see you at the Homebrew Camp hopefully at the same location. The trips from the Beacon two doors over to see you and God were a highlight of the trip. Love the pool table, too......especially since it has that reverse English from hell every time you break or even hit the ball. It brought the randomness of the slop shot back into the game. Thanks!

The vanilla soda was wonderful, and I thank you profusely from the bottom of my heart for having a great camp!

Yep, and after I retire, I have the option to return to come back for a thousand hours a year, part of the incentive for the State being to not lose the institutional memory it has accumulated. I can collect salary while on retirement during that period, and it adds up quickly.

Plus, we even have the option of working past normal retirement age. One lady I know is a project manager in St. Louis with over 50 years accumulated service time. For her 80th birthday, everybody chipped in to get her the opportunity to drive the Zamboni in Kiel center. She loved it. My job is not just a job, it's a family.

First year that decompression hit me hard.

I'm channeling it all into a hopefully placed art project next year.

And cleaning. Need to clean all the things.

Was the Bay Area all mellow and dreamy without "all the burners"?
