New plan: I'm bringing a 50 watt FM exciter and an iPod with Disneys "Small World" in a loop, to run 24/7.
I sure hope those kind folks doing mental health assessments have their restraints and thorazine ready.

I don't spin but I can learn in the week before Gate opens next year. More importantly I need to set up my IndieGogo campaign to fund the video for my Kickstarter campaign for my new DJ Art Car. It will look like a steampunk Star Destroyer towing a giant female ass, with the DJ booth mounted in the crack. Oh and a bunch of cages shaped like gogo dancers, with actual gogo dancers inside. Everything will be on fire. Guys it's going to be sick!

I've found keying up with 50 watts on 6 meters interrupts most automotive stereo amplifiers. Puts a huge buzz on the intermediate frequency.

I don't know art, but I know what I like, so as long as I'm drunk while all this is going on, I'm down to contributing to your funding campaign to cover at least one ass cheek.maladroit wrote:I don't spin but I can learn in the week before Gate opens next year. Hehehe. After a few hours of this, even the Dancetronauts would be preferable.lucky420 wrote:GreyCoyote wrote:New plan: I'm bringing a 50 watt FM exciter and an iPod with Disneys "Small World" in a loop, to run 24/7.

It's a Small World was done in 1999 and burned!

I think it's nearby but not too close, you can actually hear people talking in that video. Near the end you can see some people looking back at flames with a sour expression.

Perhaps I should convert the Land Yacht into a gunship or destroyer.
It's got lots of electricity and already has two very large antennas. Some electronic countermeasure and jamming gear inside would be most of what it needs. Honestly there's very little or apparently zero enforcement of the sound rules or etiquette, and BRC is a "do-ocracy" anyway.
Time to do battle with that enemy space ship.

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
A long range directional mic, a fairly powerful directional speaker array, and a very simple DSP delay effect of about 200 milliseconds: You now have a speech jammer cannon. It wouldn't do much for the music, but it would definitely make the DJ sound dumb(er).

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
Well... this is a tactical situation. The enemy has us outgunned. I haven't got and couldn't even carry the amount of firepower the ASStronauts have, so I'd have to find their weak spot and exploit it.
If there's any RF or wifi or other non-hard-wired link in their system, I think that's where to strike.

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
It might still work because you don't have to make the audience hear it, just the DJ. The full audio power of the car isn't going into their booth.
However, an effective countermeasure would be insulated headphones.
Zero points for subtlety but electronics generally have a weak spot regarding water.

Maladroit: if memory serves, a certain distinguished eplayan has a fully functional fire truck. And if that isnt available, then maybe those guys servicing the portos could be distracted long enough to bring the discharge hose to bear.

Just a note: while discussing the asshat-ery of certain camps is fine, discussing ways to take torches & pitchforks after them (that may cross legality lines) on ePlaya is not. Destruction of equipment crosses that line, even if done in jest. There's enough people riled up about them that someone may take the discussion seriously.

Yeah, water was definitely never an option. Those art cars have enough 110V running around on board to make things turn ugly really fast.Eric wrote:Just a note: while discussing the asshat-ery of certain camps is fine, discussing ways to take torches & pitchforks after them (that may cross legality lines) on ePlaya is not. Cpt. GD was hoping for a non-invasive, non-damaging method of interference. I think that somehow injecting noise or disabling their system would quickly lose its charm. The speech jammer (if correctly and safely implemented) would on the other hand be fucking hilarious.

Mercifully, the loss of the entourage would mean no one was there to take care of them and they'd die within a month.maladroit wrote:The only lifeform that would outlast a cockroach in a nuclear holocaust is the common DJ.

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
Once upon a time a camp set up across from HUshville with a tiny DJ set up and an open dance area. (Seriously, you;re land grabbing for sound across from the Hush?) Their structure was mostly scaffolding and pallets, with tons of camo netting artfully draped for shade for the DJ. They tested their system briefly and ran off to play that afternoon. And then we had one of those rain events which rolls through for a short time, then blows away. We never heard one peep out of anonymous sound camp after that.
I may have forgotten details, but that is the condensed version. A shame no one ran over with a tarp, huh?

eric is right...
i do not mean to whip up any kind of violence, merely SHAME.
shame is how we punish.....shame is how we let our citizens know they have fucked up...shame is powerful, you don't need violence or shenanigans.
i'll tell a story again.
i think it was 1998 or so, and back then the Yahoos were local boys, not the "Bro Safari and Frat Boys" that have replaced them.
two of them started hooting and hollering at some women who were topless, the typical "lets see some titties, shake that ass" kind of BS...
they were quickly surrounded by 7-8 big Bears in full leather regalia who promptly demanded to see their dicks...
they instantly understood what it was to be objectified.
i HOPE they never behaved that way again, because they were SHAMED into seeing how their behavior was hurting others.
that is all we need really to change things, the community has power in it's disapproval...
