Adding my own response...This may not sit so well with the vegetarians and vegans, but it's a lot like a bacon-wrapped filet mignon. That is, something pretty amazing all wrapped up in something that's even better.
I think of it as the living brain trust of Burning Man, covered in a juicy layer of participation and community. For those who care to look, you can find answers to most Burning Man-related questions (and project questions) here (or for those looking for pro-tips, use your search keywords plus the word eplaya on any search engine), and you can also pay it forward and share your advice and experience with others. I know I never would have made it to the playa if it hadn't been for the kindness and help of complete strangers, and serves as a great way to try and do that for other people. Unlike some kind of simple FAQ or wiki site, the threaded nature of message board conversations means the answers and explanations come in the form of conversation and interaction. Even when things get heated or awkward, it feels more organic and interesting to me. And as you spend more time here and get to connect with other participants, it becomes an even more wonderful way to stay connected throughout the year.
