New burners
Hey everyone,
We have been lerking and researching for a couple weeks now....
We are a couple from Edmonton, Alberta Canada looking at the burn for 2015.
Met some people here already, joined some lists, facebook groups and still learning.
If all goes well we can have 8-12 people to put together a camp. Love the participation idea, just not sure how to deal with that just yet. All in time.
There is a lot to grasp for a trip.
Feel free to say hi, and shed some light into our experience plans.
Regards,
Lionsnzebras.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hi and welcome. It's a big project but you'll have fun making it happen and then when you hit the playa for the first time you'll know why you did all of it and by the end of the week you know you'll do twice as much to get back the next year.

Go to BM. It will change both your lives. Another Canadian Burner here....I had dreamed of going for years and this year I finally able to make it happen. I am still in Decompression mode and its alot to take in. I strongly recommend attending a regional. There are many not far from you.

Re: New burners
Another idea is to have a few burners in your camp who have gone for a few years (more than one) before. You can meet them through your regional or find them by social media in your town. It's a great adventure!

Welcome.
As for "the participation idea," I suggest volunteering as a great way to meet people and have fun. However, it's very easy to over-commit, especially your first year, so I'd recommend walk-in volunteering opportunities for when you're feeling energetic and outgoing. You can find a listing of such opportunities at Playa Info, kitty-corner to Center Camp. Or just offer to lend a hand at your favorite art piece/neighborhood bar.
