I'm down to one last item to clean. The monkey hut aluminet. Plan to bring it to the parking lot at work and get the leaf blower after it. Everything else is either stashed back in the van or the camping closet waiting for the next trip.
Not sure I am ready to be finished with the cleaning task...don't want it to end.

I've begun to find the motivation to clean. I was feeling funky, but feeling better now.

Re: Getting your shit back together: progress reports
Going into BM I knew I would come back to Defaultia with no job and a couple of paychecks. Living with mom, again.
This is roughly my situation last year about this time that led me into a not so nice downward spiral into depression.
I feel great and optimistic about everything irregardless. I feel closer to mom than I have for many years, we kinda understand each other a bit more. Now that I don't have that pesky job eating up most of my week I have gotten to reconnect with people who also have flexible/irregular schedules. I have more time to find a therapist I think will be a proper fit for me. I have more time to do my volunteer thangs. I have hope again and lots of it. I have a lot of what I did not last year about this time.
I have lost my shit a few times on spaceship earth and I do love getting it back together.

I still haven't taken the bikes off the back of my van, but most of the laundry is done. I'm having problems getting back into the swing of work too, even though I'm broke. Oh well, back to a tax return....

Still cleaning, washing, drying, and repacking stuff into storage. Surely, but slowly it'll all get done. Kinda amazed at the space freeing up in my small apartment as I put things into storage.

Re: Getting your shit back together: progress reports
I finally finished the clothing project. It falls into 3 categories
1. The clothes I plan to wear next year. Each outfit bagged into individual 3 gallon bags. Including undergarments and jewelry.
2. Costumes I can't part with but won't be coming to the playa next year. This includes lots of ridiculous things I use for other events.
3. Things I never want to see again. These wonderful items will be sold next year at my Burning Man sale. (Hey, we gotta pay to play.)
It's been a very messy week but all of it is now in bins. Hopefully this will save me some time next year when the crunch of getting ready starts to wear on me.
All that's left to do is clean and vacuum the van. This year I put off vacuuming it till one week before the burn. I don't mind the dust.

I don't mind the dust either. I am keeping a few things unwashed so I can wrap myself in dustyness whenever I get Homesick.

Front seats of the Poop Mobile vacuumed & plastic armor-alled. First pass really.
Otherwise, my decompression isn't going as smoothly as I'd prefer. Maybe next week will be better.
I did get the trailer wheel seals fixed this week. That was expensive but now I don't have to think about the wheels locking up.

Amen!!!MyDearFriend wrote: I am keeping a few things unwashed so I can wrap myself in dustyness whenever I get Homesick.

I just finished a 12-pack of 7-Up that had been on the playa with me for 10 days and as I as folding up the cardboard to throw into the recycling bin, I noticed it was caked with playa dust. I decided to just rub it all over my chest and smell the alkaline dust. I was thinking to myself how Homesick I was...

I'm saving a can of beer gifted to me at the DPW Parade for 10/4 Decompression Day.
I'll be in my blanket fort until further notice.

If you can read the label, it's not fully Playafied yet.

Yes, really put your jerky, and all that other stuff in cans or boxes, that you bought for the burn yet did not eat, and give it to the nearest soup kitchen or pantry or whatever. (And in this case, it does have to be bought.)

Re: Getting your shit back together: progress reports
I have discovered that teenaged boys are amazingly adept at disposing of all of this stuff. Just "hide" it in the back of the pantry. Mine magically disappears without a trace that way, and as long as you pretend not to notice the pile of wrappers under the bed, this magic will keep happening.

Re: Getting your shit back together: progress reports
Well I prepared for Burning Man in all the items I would need during the time I was there and during transport of said items...but then I FORGOT to acquire the things needed to clean my tent. So after a shopping trip I can finally clean the tent tomorrow. Must Buy all the things! In preparation for next year...thats what I keep telling myself.
