The Virgin Burner

Post by Gbymellow24 » Thu Sep 25, 2014 10:18 am

Hello to all burners. My name is Gabby I am a 22 year old living in the Bay Area. I plan on attending Burning Man 2015 but the thing is that I will be going alone because I don't have friends or family who are willing to attend . I am so glad I came across eplaya because I hope I can join a group who is traveling from the Bay Area to BRC this upcoming year. I don't want to be a stranger, I hope I can develop a friendship as we await BM 2015. Of course, I am willing to contribute in anything. All I can think of this driving up to the playa and first thing is first, find the Virgin bell and ring it and shout out " I am not a Virgin burner" I can't wait to learn and hear stories about BM. I can't wait to be a part of the wonderful community.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Welcome!

You are in one of the few places where it's hard to remain outside the BM world without deliberately trying.

If you look on the main burningman.com you will find regional contacts. There are informal interchanges on FB and other social media for Bay Area burners. In-person is the way to go. There are official "decompression" parties and fairs. Once you go to a few, you will make friends, be connected to house parties and hear about events with large numbers of burner participants.

Costumes are a big part of the culture. Events like Santacon have a large burner contingent. Some of the maker spaces and art studios have many burners.

Hi Gabby! Indeed, the "Regionals" list at the top right of the main site is your ticket to connection. :)

The SF Decompression party is Sunday October 12th. Be there or be square.
