Always enjoy your well thought out posts on this issue. BM has been undergoing change as long as it's being ongoing. Many who once found a home here no longer do. Plenty of newbies to take their place. Wherever they go to instead I'd love to hear about it and attend.

Yep I'm with Bri on this, your quip about Midol was sexist. It amounted to calling Bri a whinging girl. First off that's a negative stereotype of women and secondly the idea that likening a man to woman should upset him implies that men are better than women. If you're only posting in here to make comments like that you should probably back off and let a conversation that by your own admission bores you be continued by people who are interested in it and aren't using gendered insults against each other.Elderberry wrote:Really? I found a couple dusty six-packs stashed in the truck, missed them while out on the playa.
I did it wrong.
Then I drank them with my friend who will never make it out to the playa.
i did it right.
And actually I am really complimented by being called a whiny woman, by....you know......an inferior being.
Oooooo.....my true colors are leaking out, I've kept my actual feeling too hidden up til now, huh?
Something else to not be interested in, yet comment on.....

“Ooh, touchy! You must be on the rag!”—First we need to deal with the fact that anyone who says this is an idiot, and not just because they have the emotional maturity of a zygote. The misogynistic “joke” here is predicated on the concept that women are “moody” when they have PMS, which stands for premenstrual syndrome. Pre. As in before. As in not having her period yet. For many PMS-sufferers, getting one’s period alleviates some of all symptoms of PMS, particularly as regards irritability and tension. So the whole “on the rag” thing doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, for a whole lot of women. I suppose the sort of fuck-knuckle who uses a “joke” like this isn’t too concerned about its medical accuracy, but I’m a pedant, so there you go.
My real gripe, however, is the general presumption, which is widely held, even by some of the most feminist people I know, that women who suffer cyclical irritability with their menstrual cycles get “irrational” and/or express anger about things that don’t really bother them; it’s just that they’re being “sensitive” because of the whole period thing.

I explained why I thought it was sexist and offensive and instead of explaining why you think it isn't you used the same insult on me? Yeah good job. Suggesting that my opinions are just the result of my hormonal cycle and are thus easily dismissible is sexist. You are being sexist. Clearly we have a difference of opinion on that but if you actually gave a damn about not being (or appearing to be) sexist you would take the feedback on board and stop, the fact that you've kept on pushing is making this look a lot worse and I am losing respect for you really quickly.

Back on track. I rarely make it past page 3....
I didn't start seriously building anything until June.
A lot of my last minute work broke on day 2.
& Worst of all, I brought booze home with me.

Yeah, that is what I was trying to confess before being side-tracked by all the off-playa reasons to drink that booze I fortunately still have. Fate? Serendipity?FlyingMonkey wrote:& Worst of all, I brought booze home with me.

There really is a ying and yang at work. I'm still eating off the tuna and beans and peanuts and sodas that I brought to the Burn, I feel like I did it wrong and failed to use, and then brought back home and on some lazy night.....like tonight?....look in the cupboard and pull out that Dinty Moore....and save myself the hassle of heading out, allowing me to do it right. This pretty much works for all the surplus playa supplies, except the lugable loo liners.
