California King Fire

Post by TT120 » Sun Oct 05, 2014 6:39 am

Some of you may have heard about the King fire that has devastated around 100,000 acres of beautiful forest here in N. California. This area has some of the best motorcycling roads around and I go there frequently. Yesterday I went to check out some of the damage and am saddened that this fire was apparently set on purpose. (arson) They have the guy in jail but it doesn't fix the damage. Here are a couple pics I got yesterday.

Even the tree roots underground are burning:

I lived near the Oakland firestorm area back then. It was really weird. A layer peeled off the world to see the skeleton underneath.

That's when I acquired by aversion to juniper bushes--suddenly I saw how many bottles and cans got thrown into there and never removed. Garbage magnets...

Yeah the air was nasty here for pretty much two weeks. Some days worse than others, others not so bad. Usually in the afternoons it got bad. One afternoon on my commute home I couldn't see the Virginia range, just across Washoe lake, while driving south through the Washoe Valley. Almost as bad as that fire last year in Yosemite.
Bless the men and women on the lines.
