Area Within the Trash Pit.... ?

Post by Meat Hunter » Fri Oct 03, 2014 5:20 pm

Does any one know the computed actual sq. mile surface area that is contained within the hexagonal trash pit?

Not the side to side linear distance...

I'm a little confused by the question, but will answer if I can: do you mean the enclosed area inside the pentagonal MOOP fence? If so, 4,400 acres, more or less, per the BLM filings. The closure area appears to be about 120,000 acres if my math is right.

Grey,

You are a Wizard. And, were able to rhyme and reason out of my ramblings.

The area within the trash fence.

Thank You.

4400 acres = 6.875 sq miles

120,000 acres = 187.5 sq miles

This thread represents the best of eplaya to me. I'm continuously amazed that there is almost always someone that will have the answer to almost any burning man (and often non-burnung man) related question.
