*stumbles in, pushed button on Automatic Super Secret Coffee Repository And Caffeine Kontainer* (poetic/spelling license)*

Hi gang!
just got woken by insulation guys, calling with a question.......crap, and worked a 24 hour shift at that hippie fest ending at 10 pm last night.
And nope, FJ, not the one that got shut down.
It was fun and or interesting though! Amazing, working "Gate" at an event that sells tickets at the door and is for hippies... how many drive 6 hours, knowing it costs 80 bucks to get in, and only bring 20 bucks! Even more amazing, flying from Belgium, with no money, but thinking you can get in with a see through top, skirt around your mid section and no underwear..........haha though I did thank her, I sent her to find an ATM........haahhaa

Dang tired, may get a nap today.......haha

Gosh, I'm tired too. Spent most of yesterday driving, which I have done enough of in my life. Still need to make the same trip a second time in the next day or three. Bought a pick-em-up-truck on behalf of my brother. And was by myself, so left my own truck at the seller's.

But a good kind of tired: Hecka new truck -- 2002 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Dually Diesel 4x4. For pulling a 5th wheel trailer in any weather. Remarkable thing is, it drives smooth and quiet as a car, even empty.

Still, morning nap time....

Oh yes, I made sure it has the 7.3. That's the IH 444, such as used in school buses and medium trucks.
In 2003 Ford came out with the 6.0, which was not-so-good.

yeah I love the 7.3 I have......and I "chipped" it, with a dash, "on the fly" adjustable chip, to add, in increments, up to 140 h.p. (manuf. claim). it does kick it in the pants, though, if you turn it up.

Morning kiddies. Hi Sunbeam. Beautiful day here as well, Lucky. Heading up to Jackson in the "Gold Country" to visit a client this morning. Long day on the road. Look forward to taking a day off on Thursday to soak in the Harbin Hot Springs. So, gotta run. Hugs to all

Well, wish for rain, and what do we get? Tropical storm Simon, moving in to soak (and, supposedly, flood) the entire state of Arizona, just in time for our Decom. Yay!!

Could be fun.... 8)

Good Morning Bar!
Question: how many folded up or wadded single dustmasks, unsent BRC postcards, and unmarked partly played audio cassettes can be accumulated in a studio apartment in 11 years?
I'm not going to keep a tally, but it's a surprising amount. It's almost near the "wow really?" mark.
Hot weather here, weird for October for sure. no snow!

Retrieved the Dakota with a trailer behind the big Ford. The 7.3 didn't seem to notice there was anything back there.
I do wish it had a "real" transmission though, instead of a slush box. But couldn't find one.
Now we are looking for a toy-hauler 5th wheel trailer to see if we can slow the truck down just a tiny bit on the steepest hills.

Hi Elliot!
yeah, you'll note good power in the truck! I have a task that'd test it: Hauling my backhoe home from the Hof.......
I need to get that done today, I'm hoping.
A few simple things you can do, that do help, is a free-er flowing air filter and 4" exhaust, along with an extra trans. cooler.
Why don't you like the auto trans? I sure like them, and you can still pick any gear you want.

The previous owner installed an aftermarket conical air-filter, and she cut the muffler off with a sawsall, not bothering to reinstall the tailpipe. I reckon I will install a pipe in place of the muffler, so I can put the tailpipe back on. But it is already 3 1/2 inch, so not too awful restrictive.

I don't trust automatics. When they go out, they go out all at once and leave you stranded. A stick shift will make bearing-noises for months.
And I prefer the personal control of a stick shift -- it shifts when I want it to.
And there is that mushiness from the torque converter, when it is not locked up.

And this one is only a 4 speed auto. The gaps between gears are rather wide. From 4th down to 3rd revs the engine thru the roof. This truck could be had with a 6 speed stick, for closer gaps. (Of course, my real choice would be a 13 speed.)
I realized late last night that there was one of these with a stick shift in the Bay Area for the same price, and I had forgotten about it, so now I'm... telling myself very calmly that this historical fact is not relevant to my current life. (Thanks, CBT!)

My brother and his girlfriend will be landing at Oakland International at 5:15 p.m.. I need to clear out the guest room for them. *panics*

well, I do understand your attitude towards auto trans.........but politely disagree it's a disadvantage, and would propose for any disadvantage, there is an advantage to be had.

Happily agree to disagree -- specially on something so trivial! And automatics certainly have a convenience-advantage in heavy traffic and city driving.

My visitors will be severely jet-lagged for a few days, but Laura wants to see San Francisco, so we will be going out there one day. A swing thru Decompression is a possibility.

been a long time since I had a car with automatic transmission...
I do wish I had cruise control. Long trip ahead in manual transmission car. oh well. I can do it.
Applying for passport renewal, and getting one of the new "passport cards" as well. How new is that? For Canada, and Mexico.
Why so expensive? Shouldn't it be a basic thing to have? Over 200 bucks.
Of course this prompted a lot of other stuff, printer ink cartridges, troubleshooting why the ink cartridges don't work, cleaning said cartridge contacts... I pull on the thread, and wow it just keeps leading me on. I feel like I'm stuck in an interminable swallow the fly song. I don't know why.

I got one of those passport cards last time I renewed. It's the only ID I use anywhere except at DMV anymore. The stores hate it because they can't scan it to steal your:
Name
Address
Height
Weight
Birth date
Vision restrictions
Vehicles you are allowed to operate
And in some states, including mine, SSN.

They can't refuse to accept it as ID. It is the most valid ID a person can carry.
Remember kiddoes, if you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing!

One of the first couples to get a same-sex marriage once the law was changed had a surprise when they later wanted to divorce. Seems that the way the Divorce Act was written, it didn't/couldn't cover same-sex marriage...

well, back from moving the backhoe home from the Hof.
The driver, though having said he'd been there many times, and not listening to my detailed description and admonition not to freak out, that he'd be able to turn around at the bottom of the hill........freaked out and sat by the road for 45 mins, honking his horn hoping I'd hear him a mile away, and come reassure him what I had said was indeed true.......2 dollars per minute. I finally drove up, reminded him of all I had said, and he said though he remembered, he didn't trust so waited.......
ah well, could have been worse, I'm sure.

On the way home seeing a large, new smoke column,we found out a new fire has broken out about 10 miles from me here, went from 50 acres to 200 in about 45 mins........I sure hope they get a handle on it. Watch out Reno and Tahoe, the smokeseems to be going that way.
