Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Thanks, Ygmir! What you can do for now, is go out on your front porch in a couple hours and wave at white crew-cab dualies going east. They just left here, and they are taking SR 20. Alas, they cannot stop, because they have just four days to get to Indiana. But they have no trailer, so they will not be slowed down by anything.
They may be back briefly in November, but basically Laura will be studying wolfs for three months in Battle Ground, Indiana. The "kid" is only 24 and already has her Master's Degree.

It isn't time off yet. I am doing something that I have avoided for too many years, because I don't like doing it. Packing, purging, sorting, hauling. I'm short on time, and long on "to-be-done" Many hard decisions to be made. When that is done, THEN I will have time off. I don't have to get up at 4:30, though, so that is very nice. My sister came over, and left with two little boxes, and a coat. Not much of a dent. Many items just to be gotten rid of.ygmir wrote:Yay Elorrum!!! ingnore that alarm!! enjoy your "time off".......it'll change soon enough.

Damn good for you though! That takes a strength I don't think I have.
well yay then Elliot!! she'll sure see some mountains on that drive! If they go over the Rockies, and not around.
But even then, Donner summit and the Wasatch out of SLC are impressive, let alone coming from a country with the topography of Nebraska.

Elorrum...it will feel so good when you finally get through that last pile of stuff. The payoff will be fantastic, but I know how hard the process is. Hang in there.

I'm the 'Soul searcher'?
"Your'e the soul searcher! You're a deep thinker, sensitive, and highly intuitive. You've been through a lot in life and you're constantly learning more about your journey, but you're still working it all out. This has made you very spiritual and deeply attuned to the vibes around you. You've come out to the desert to find yourself! We'll see you in the crystal tent... or maybe in the temple of past life emotions? Stay on your path of self-discovery, we're certain you'll grown and learn tremendously from it!"
Dips. I store 'the crystal tent' in my garage. Only I call it a 'collection' of crystals accumulated over the years. I've only seen TWO powers that can be ascribed crystals, and they're both measurable and quantifiable. The first is piezoelectric. Subject a crystal to a small change in atmospheric pressure and it vibrates. Quartz is VERY sensitive to it, and it's why quartz has been used as frequency selective radio crystals for years. But the minute you talk about using quartz to contact my long dead ancestors I think you're a candidate for the funny farm. (I am also a candidate for the funny farm, but it's because I think painting stripes on a horse to call it a quagga could be an interesting experience.)
The other 'crystal power' that I can verify is pyroelectricity. Heat a crystal, get an electric charge at opposing ends of the crystal. I know this one from tourmaline.

Hey gang!
Well, I've been taking a breather from eplaya for a bit, so I don't burn out. Still lurking around my favorite threads though.
Made some art this weekend, and while I still have more to do before it's done, it really does feel good to spend time on art instead of work, the house, the car, etc. ad infinitum.
It sure is good seeing all of you familiar bar folks here, and some newer faces too!
Gotta work tomorrow..

Hi Bar folks!!
4 wonderful days of AZ Decompression... a bit damp Thursday, but absolutely perfect the rest. (a tad windy this morning, taking things down, but still Perfect)
There were a few Missing Persons... *(FIGJAM, wake up... I'm speaking to YOU!)* and a few new folks who hope to go to BRC next year for the first time. I camped with 3 good friends, all Jeromans, right across from TinkerMom. All in all, it was a very fun time! YAY Decom!!!
So, next is Reno in January?
Oh, and see what happens when I go away for a few days? Unjon went and got even older, and so did Mojojita! A belated Happy Birthday to each of you!

Rain indeed, GW!! we here in the north of CA need it, as well. They are saying a chance of minimal rain this week, under 1/10th of an inch......nothing really.
gotta go get a load of granite this week, and have no co-pilot for the ride. dang wish someone was close to go along.......
12 hour or so round trip, down hwy 49,back hwy 99. nice but boring if no one is along to talk to.
Newfie.......and so much more, dear Delle..............

Ah... well... Millicent has 8 seats plus a couch, and currently has 6 bunks with room for more (assuming there is no significant cargo). But traveling 12,000 miles in a month's time would not be wise. For one thing, I used to do that sort of thing for a living, and refuse to do it "for fun". And Millicent is very noisy and rough-riding, and struggles to reach 65 MPH with a tail-wind. But such a trip is a fun sentiment.
And for Six Grand we could buy Delle & Kenny a trunk-full of airline tickets! (And still pay our bill at Ray's Music Exchange in Calumet City.)
When I was trucking, living like a crazed gypsy with my ass on fire, I promised myself to never drive more than 200 miles in one day after I retired. I violate that occasionally, but not by much.
