:D
RC ran a zoo for two years, and turned it around from run-down to "a going concern" with some educational value. But the human employees wore him out. He's the sort of fellow you see on TV crawling into a bear's den to check on the cubs, and bottle-raising them if they are orphaned.
He just checked in from Lincoln, Nebraska. Said the F-350 is almost silent at 75 MPH. I'm watching his eBay activity, and he is now bidding on a humongous camping trailer in Illinois.

Closer to home... there is a Steampunk event here in Clearlake in ten days, so I need to do some painting on the tricycle I'm exhibiting.

Hi Elliot!
we're getting a good rain! yay!
This might seal the end of fire season if it keeps up, and finally put "out" the huge fire to the south.

Morning all, chilly here but no rain...soon enough it'll be snowing! Hot tea weather for sure.

There's both a wolf sanctuary and a wild animal sanctuary here in Colorado. I've not had the chance to visit either but have heard good things, particularly about the wild animal one. Tigers, lions, bears, etc. Definitely a place I'd like to see when I can find the time.

RC mentioned Colorado as a state he intends to visit. (And a key reason he bought a four-wheel-drive truck, what with winter coming on now.) So I expect he is familiar with those sanctuaries, but it wouldn't hurt to tell him.

Morning Bar.
I haven't peeked outside yet to check weather. Most likely drying pavement and sun. I am happy to finally be moving out of an extremely shaded apartment. Not much light during the day. Trying to do many little things that take a lot of time. I found out that the battery drop off haz-mat requirement is to tape the positive contacts on the batteries. That was time consuming. I don't think I've gotten rid of a single bad battery in ten years here. I kept throwing them in a box with intentions to drop them off somewhere. Same with florescent bulbs, but I don't have to tape anything on them. paint, spray paint, etc. all need their own little disposal places.
Sadie, I hope your little one is getting better. I saw a documentary a while back that showed a little baby with pertussis and it was so infuriating. Doctors weren't looking for symptoms of diseases they never expected to see, but I've heard of whooping cough locally in the past couple years.
Lucky, how's the throat?
Marty, Elliot, ygmir, good morning.

well, got the plaque set .
ha, the whole dang committee was there to watch. noting better than a bunch of committee members, who don't know what they are watching, telling you how, or asking you why,you do something, while you're straining to hold this big piece of bronze up to mark bolt locations.....hahahaa
And taking photos the whole time! I asked for copies, there's gotta be some funny ones........such as when my helper was going to clean out of of the original mounting holes, and I said, "don't stick your finger in there, just blow some starting fluid in to get the crap out.........and out came a huge black widow spider.........he jumped. haha. about 4 more appeared during the cleaning.
what is it with me and biting/stinging things? gotta mean something?

anyway, go back tomorrow to finish.

pretty cool bridge, if you want to know about it, google "Bridgeport covered bridge, Nevada County,, CA.
a real piece of gold rush history.

as a kid, I rode in my dads pickup truck across it several times.
I don't remember if it was closed by then, but do remember it creaking and popping as we crossed.

There is/was a popular skinny-dipping spot just up the river from the bridge, but the obnoxious young punks with their noisy stereos keep chasing the mellower crowd further and further upstream.

Morning, kiddies. Beautiful sunrise here today Hope you're feeling better, Lucky

Great game with a great 3 run walk off home run finish last night as the Giants beat the Cardinals 6-3 to win the National League Pennant for the third time in 5 years. Sorry, Rhino, your guys played great and every game in the series was close. Now on to the World "Serious" vs Kansas City.

I've been a baseball fan (and player as a kid) all my life and a Giant fan since the days I was growing up in the New York area. My dad was a baseball fan who tried out for the Yankees. He was too small and so never played professionally. He did manage my sand lot team, the Bluejays. I was captain. One of the peak experiences of my life was when I was about 12, playing second base and caught a tough line drive and tagged the runner going from first base to second for an unassisted double play to end the inning. 70 years ago and I remember it as if it happened yesterday.

So, Go Giants!!!

Have a great one kiddies and remember, Carpe Diem
