Removing parking pass sticker from windshield
Removing parking pass sticker from windshield
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the parking pass from the inside of one's windshield? It is seriously glued on there. My windshield is brand new and I would rather not scratch it with abrasive materials. Thanks.

Single-sided razor blade is best.
You could also try softening it, first, with a hair dryer.

Baby wipes took it off like butter... streaky but the paper mooshed off.
You could also try ethanol or acetone (nail polish remover).

I'm giving this a nudge over to the Transportation board, since I think vehicle pass sticker removal fits better in the transportation category.
The process would be identical to removing most other permit/stickers from the inside of a windshield. Type "removing sticker from windshield" into your search engine of choice, you should get multiple plages of results that work well. While Burning Man is a magical place, the sticker itself is not made of magic.

A razor blade will take the plastic off and some Goo-gone will remove the sticky stuff. The big problem is on rental cars, where you want to mask any hint of the playa. A parking sticker would be a dead give-a-way.
If you are within driving distance of the playa, maybe you could bring some solvent and razor blades with you and offer to remove stickers for those with rentals.

California scents auto air freshener is a great solvent for glues of all kinds. Be careful not to get it on plastic. We used it to remove what we call "beam cheese" accumulations of industrial double stick tape and any kind of tape residue. Goof off, Goo gone, also good, but don't smell as nice.

Brick or baseball bat should get it right off of there.

I used a wet sponge and the scratchy side of the sponge, took a little elbow grease but it came off.

Just outside Empire a vehicle coming back on to the road kicked up a good size rock which cracked my windshield. When I had the windshield replaced one of the guys doing the job handed me what was left of my parking pass asking if I wanted it for a souvenir

Remove it? I'm never removing mine! Great conversation starter when someone sees it and asks about it.

Dragon pilot, I'm with you. I very carefully stuck it as far down on my windshield as possible. Room for plenty more. Hell. I still have the new car sticker and my vans 2 years old.

Re: Removing parking pass sticker from windshield
This has me wondering, if someone were to stick their parking pass on a bit of clear plastic and put that against the window, thereby avoiding the whole "how do we get this off the rental", would that automatically be considered as an attempt to defraud on the vehicle pass part of the whole thing?

Why is it that every time you mention wondering about something it gets me to wondering about it as well. That empty space in my brain was quite happily not pondering anything much until you posted your question....theCryptofishist wrote:This has me wondering, if someone were to stick their parking pass on a bit of clear plastic and put that against the window, thereby avoiding the whole "how do we get this off the rental", would that automatically be considered as an attempt to defraud on the vehicle pass part of the whole thing?
But... I got to thinking about it, and decided that maybe the solution would be to bring a square of glass-clinging vinyl upon which to stick the sticker. Advantage being that you could transfer it to your own vehicle after the rental was returned.

Re: Removing parking pass sticker from windshield
The state of Delaware has annual park passes that stick to the windshield just like the vehicle pass. I have (when I had multiple cars) stuck the park pass to a piece of clear vinyl from a pool toy. Then you static cling the thing to the window of your current car. When you need to pull it off, just use a finger nail on the corner. Worked for many years without a hitch.theCryptofishist wrote:This has me wondering, if someone were to stick their parking pass on a bit of clear plastic and put that against the window, thereby avoiding the whole "how do we get this off the rental", would that automatically be considered as an attempt to defraud on the vehicle pass part of the whole thing?
