I dated a boy from Wisconsin in college. That was a mistake.

So... apparently Obama has bypassed congress and is now sending the National Guard to West Africa to fight Ebola. While I personally see this as a good thing, I think it could be a fatal political move.

I am now going to make a gut feeling prediction that Obama will be facing impeachment charges by Nov 1st. People are scared of Ebola in the US, and the CDC under Obama is now looking like they have no idea what they are doing, and he is ordering American citizens to the hot zone potentially exposing more Americans who will either die or return home with a Ebola.

I personally think he is doing the right thing, I also don't think that will matter.

That's funny. I guess bullets and bombs don't kill soldiers as dead as Ebola does.

The majority of Americans have shown through their actions, not their words, that they don't give a shit about dead American soldiers, that's somebody else's kid getting killed and not really their problem. With a troop deployment to West Africa though, and potentially Ebola exposed troops returning to your community, and suddenly you'll have everybody "caring so much about the soldiers" that they insist they don't go, or they'll care so much about the soldiers that they'll insist they not be allowed back into the US for treatment once they do contract the disease.

Either way, the Republicans will make it look like Obama is trying to kill all of us. I might be off on my Nov 1st estimate, it might be the first day of the new congress after what is starting to look like a political tidal wave brought to us by an Ebola October Surprise. Remember though, impeachment is only the trial, not the actual conviction.

The public has been accepting the body bags returning home for quite some time, yet there does seem to be a greater worry shown over Ebola victims coming to the US.
Not a lot of "funny" in any of it.

Which is why we should bring back the draft.

With the draft (with no one exempted) along with a 10% war tax would definitely make almost any war short of another 9/11 impossible.

If we still required a full Declaration of War before we interceded we would be involved in many many fewer conflicts overseas. Giving the president the power to say, "Fuck it. Throw a few cruise missiles at them," is dangerous regardless of the political stripe of the asshole in the big chair. The War Powers Acts are too much power for one person. Every president has abused them since Bush 41. Every.

"Radical Inclusion" here, people!!! Read your little dust books. The way some of you sound, if some vomiting soul with a massive fever, fresh of the plane from western Africa arrived at the gates of BRC with a ticket in hand, and Ebola in the blood, you hypocrites would turn them away, even if attending Burning Man Inc. was on their bucket list......dare I say, you would turn them away even if they were a DJ. Oh, where is your open arms? Remember, if the dude has a ticket, he must be welcomed. We don't get to pick and choose who attends the event. Or do we? Does the health of the overall community outweigh radical inclusion? Come on you K-street feather lovers, show ebola some of the love.

The students in Connecticut don't have it. The sick fliers in Chicago don't have it. The cruise ship nurse doesn't have it.
Looks like Pham could be released soon.
