I bought some really pretty unfitted sheets, (and one with superheroes on it!) from the thrift store to create the "walls" on our shade structure. I'm planning on collecting quite a few more throughout the year but this was an awesome start!

Yeaaa! A new place to list all of my useless, (other than one week a year), purchases. I got rid of 2 fold-up chairs and the canvas tent. I got 2 almost new, fold-up chairs that are very comfortable and one round fold-up chair. I already have a couple of those round ones but everybody wants to be comfortable. I also got a free fold-up bench that seats 3. Now...To find a couple of tents.

Thin deer hide string lanyard (cut from a deer hide that I had professionally tanned a few years ago) for around the neck, ending with a glass bead and followed by a final dried buckeye seed from my 100+ year old buckeye tree.

Picked up two (very bright) 6 LED strobe lights.. Found them in hollowweinee stuff.. They can be used as tail(bike) lights by adding red lens tape from auto..$4 ec. AA bateries..

I got a free tent yesterday. Way too big but so what. It's a Coleman with a divider you can zip in the middle to make 2 rooms. It's the kitchen/utility tent so great. I can keep my meat and dairy separate. Or my rebar and skillets.

I've been using an old canvas one with aluminum poles and it was great but a royal pain to put up. At least the fiberglass ones on this baby are very thick. I'm hoping it's all in the tie-downs. (Success or failure) Any advice?

Began looking into rental transportation options - probably a cargo van.

Tired of being sardined and loaded to the hilt. And will probably schlep stuff for the camp, this year. We need a bar or something else on the backside frontage!

Cleared the work bench, put the bin in there place and swept the floor of the small shop.. Dammit Bill the door is 2 1/2 inches to small.. The trike has to go into the larger side of the shop..

So put the trike in and hung it up to work level.. Now to put everything in its place for enough space to work..

Hey guys. Me and my friends gonna buy or maybe rent a big pavilion/tent. I found something like this and fell in love with it!
Okay... its a bit excessive.
Does someone knew where to get those "dome tents" they call. Its from this company. Looks like they just doing big business not for "normal" consumers.

Just wow! Those two examples are nothing like each other. One goes up in 20 minutes with two or three people. The other one is a bitch even with a crew of helpers. The second one is similar to a North Pole Party that they haven't made in years. You can buy something like that anywhere made by God-knows-who. It may or may not stand up to the elements.

I'm not a big fan of domes. The covering is prone to shred and is very expensive to replace. I would suggest that you search this forum for useful info on sensible shade structures and forget trying to impress. Don't be drawn to the shiny objects. If you want to have a 'killer' camp, focus on what is under the tarp. If you have some nice tunes, cold water melon and adequate lighting I'll love you forever. Serve me a grilled cheese and I'll move in.

A costco carport can go up in several configurations. (Not just a garage-looking pod.) You can set it up as a wind break instead of a building.

A flat topped metal frame can be decorated. This design is proven to stand up and last for several years. The girl across from me had hers looking like a castle.

As a side note, I would LOVE to buy a North Pole Party tent. I spent some time in one and it was just the ticket for shade and party.

Went to the store for bike trailer parts.. Stood there a long time thinking of what I would need.. Changed my mind on the metal I would use.. Then figured out I have everything I need at home.. So I spent $1.69 on a candy bar and came home..

The North Pole Shade I've been using belongs to Delle... I just get to use it even when she's not there!
She bought it in 2011, just as the company quit making them.

This year, just after the burn, TinkerMom gave me another NPS, which is, as we speak, draped over my flagpole, waiting for November, when the water restrictions are dropped, and I'll wash it down with vinegar water, and hose it off. It's permeated with playa dust, as was Delle's. The flagpole trick worked well on Delle's... did the top bit, rinsed, raised the flagpole one section up at a time, cleaning as I went. It's a retractable 25' flagpole. The NPS dried really fast, too.

Both NPShades are damaged... I haven't done a good inspection of the second one yet, but noticed some damaged screen and fabric. I repaired Delle's after cleaning it, and it was perfect at the Decom, though not much used, since we had a nice fire bowl away from it (and it was cold!)

Sportsman's Guide makes a similar shade, but it has a couple of flaws. The pole tends to break through the top point, unless a tennis ball or small plastic bowl (or something) is used to cover the top of the pole. The spikes need to be replaced with something more substantial (same for the NPS).

I have a North Pole too. Am letting a campmate borrow it for 2015. Or maybe I should charge her rental fee and collect payment on playa I do need to unpack and check it since I haven't used it since 2012.

I picked up a free hammock stand from a fella cleaning out his garage. The fabric is shot, but I have 2 camping hammocks that fit it. Also a glass set of chess-set pieces and board, some sheets and glass mugs. Score!

Found two wood framed army cots on C-List in decent shape and FREE was the perfect price!
Thinking they might be nice to nap on under the monkey hut since the dome is too warm inside during the day.
