What's up people! from San Diego, CA
Hi all! My name is Andrew, I have yet to make it to BM, I'm looking to make 2015 my first one. I got married to my best friend a couple of years ago (we're relatively young); I like camping, backpacking, hiking; rap, blues, rock, reggae, and many other genres of music; videography is a hobby; I like to tinker with materials and make small items (mostly out of wood); I'm an extrovert (apologies in advance to all you introverts I may run into at BM in '15) and a generally agreeable guy. Here to learn and laugh. See you all around the forums

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hi Andrew!
As an extrovert, you might like to come socialize in The Bar in Open Discussion.
As a woodworker, you could probably make some kick-ass Man pendants if you're trying to figure out what to gift.
(1. Assistance and 2. Good company being two other popular gifts).
Don't imagine you have to mass produce either . . .
Anyway, as you can see there's tons of info for you here on ePlaya. My favorite trick is to Google a keyword and add eplaya to the search terms; it can help you find almost anything you wish to know. If you search and search and still can't find an answer, we do enjoy unusual questions.

Hi and welcome. San Diego has a pretty large community and does at least one weekly meetup. Can't send you links because my work computer doesn't like them, but if you can't find them yourself message me and I will forward links once I get to a computer where I can. Wee have a mailing list and throw one hell of a good regional every October.

My brain has come up with two alternate titles for this thread: "What's up with people!..." and
Oh good, I forgot the other.
Oh good, I forgot the other.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hey Andrew and welcome.
SD has a pretty active burner crew. There is a semi regular meet-up at Redwing bar & grill in north park on Tues. evenings. Sadly I teach a class that night so I rarely get to go, but when I have it was a great group.
If you want to get connected to the local peeps I would highly recommend subscribing to the yahoo group.

ditto on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sandiegoburners
They can both be a little slow in the off season (you know, life and all) but it heats up as the event approaches.
as you are a maker... There are also a bunch of burners who congregate at Makerplace (a group shop) http://www.makerplace.com We have a full wood shop as well as lots of high tech toys like laser cutter/engravers and CNC machines. (full disclosure: I teach the CNC classes there) I built my mutant vehicle there last year and there are numerous art projects that come out of that space.
Our camp is SD based. Camp DIY. mostly folk from OB with a couple of us in Kensington.
So no lack of resources here in America's finest city.
If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.
Cheers
