Good Morning Dear Ones
Perfect out again ..so what's a person to do to do but be happy !
Thanks for the weird cartoon Yggy.
Ancestry is free in honor of Veteran's Day; my family entered Ellis Island right before the war and my Mother and Father met there.Franco had put my Father (who came from a huge Catholic family and was a student at Salamanca) in the mines for not joining up.
Maybe I should find out what his brothers did.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Howdy, all. Things still the same here, though I have gotten up and made breakfast for me the last two mornings. Saturday - Sharp cheddar cheese 3-egg omelet with bacon and two slices of toast w/ coffee. The omelet turned out really well in the 14" cast iron skillet. I never burn the bacon any more, because I do it in the oven on broil. It turns out perfectly in mine after 11 minutes, with a turn at 5 minutes, 30 seconds.
This morning's breakfast was AWESOME. Biscuits and gravy, Tennessee-style, made with homemade drop biscuits and Southeastern Mills' gravy mix plus my own special spices. Add the gravy to a pound of Tennessee Pride country sausage, and it ruled my morning. It also got me thinking about Jimmy Dean pork sausage again. Did y'all know that Orson Welles was a spokesman for Jimmy Dean's sausage at one point?
I can hear Orson now with the tagline, "We will sell no swine, before its time." <<<<cheap, STOLEN recycled 20 year old joke
The apartment got a light cleaning this weekend. That means I ran a vacuum around for a few minutes.
Yesterday, I dropped by the grocery store and Walgreens'. At Walgreens', I am dismayed to say that they are ALREADY putting out their Xmas wares. Fuckers. And it's not even Thanksgiving yet.
To all my veteran friends and all veterans on this board: A huge THANK YOU from the heart for your service. You are much respected and loved by the community for the sacrifices that you have made for the rest of us.
I'm saying it now, because tomorrow is Veterans' Day, where we honor those who have served.
Kate is still missed, though the hurt isn't as bad as last weekend. I still look for her wherever there's a noise or I see something out of the corner of my eye, but not as much. I did put in an application to be another pound kitty adopter this last week, and I think it will be the best thing to do. Not just for me, but the kitty too. I haven't found one that's just right yet, though there is one who might be the one. His name is Taz.
He likes me, and I guess that's the first step. Remember, it's been 14 years since I last adopted one.
I love you crazy people....the playa can't be too soon this year. Drop me a line if you feel you want to or need to. I always try to reply.

Rhino, I usually start at the most recent post and this one made my heart sink.
I thought to myself, "Self. Why do you always get a crush on the GAY guy." Of course once I went up and read the original post it turned out to be a cat. Don't get me wrong. I'm very happily married but I really love some of you burners from afar. You are adorable.Rhino! wrote:

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
I know, bro. The love I have for animals is huge. Anybody who hurts one in my presence is not my friend. As a result, I have learned much on how to deal with people. People have their 'sweet spots', too, places that they like scratched, or things that they like. Give them those things, and they're happier people. People I can deal fairly with.Tin Halo wrote:Yes, I wasn't suggesting that you didn't know this.^Rhino! wrote:

Most cats LOVE the single-finger caress under the chin, the gentle skritch between the shoulder blades, and the petting they get with a soft hand down the back.
Dogs appreciate the chest rub, the between the shoulders skritching, and some will do everything including pee with a belly rub.
People appreciate the words "thank you", hugs, and being treated like human beings.
This is how the world SHOULD operate. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But I do my little part.

Thanks for this Tin Halo
Another weekend drawing to a close. Still working on painting portions of the house exterior, but weather is limiting those opportunities more and more.. that and some nonsense about having to go in to work on a regular basis.
I was able to visit LCN & K the other day along with several more burner friends. Their place is great, and as if their current shop isn't already grand, it is soon to become even larger! The metalwork they are doing is original and beautiful; it's no wonder they are thriving. Fine folks all around!
@Marty.. I'm thrilled to hear that your doctors fixed you up. The tennis balls are a little less thrilled I bet. Glad you caught it when you did.
ASD, are you volunteering for the inaugural slingshot test pilot job?
*looks around the bar*
Say.. has anyone seen UglyDougly lately?
Well, starting to get late here in the east, I guess it's time to start setting things aside for tomorrow.

I did at that. And it's probably why Snoopy danced his snoopy dance on Schroder's piano.Tin Halo wrote:You used a word only a Peanuts enthusiast would know.
Funny for you.....I passed through Needles, CA two years ago on the way to L.A. to pick up Rockstar and head to Burningman. Passing through, I saw Spike's Lane. You know who Spike was? Snoopy's brother in the Peanuts comic strip.
That was one of many strange and wondrous sights that year for me. It also was the trip where I stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. There was no girl in a flatbed Ford comin' down to take a look at me. So I don't have to take it easy.

That's a tear jerker TH.
Last week Reno PD arrested a creep from Sacramento for tying a bowling ball around his dogs collar and throwing the dog in the American river. Turned out the scumbag had warrants from Sacramento for violent crimes. And now the one for the dog. He could fall for the dumbest criminal because he got the dog from a shelter. The dog had a micro chip with the bastards information on it. Which some how led Sacramento county sheriffs into thinking he was here in Reno and they informed RPD.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Coffee in action, not in total effect yet. We've already reached our high for today - 64º - at 8:30; it's all downhill from here, 21º by 8 pm, and the wind is totally making a mess of everything outside. As if I didn't have enough options for things to do, now I have a hot-air reflow procedure to perform on a buddies' old Macbook Pro (same one I'm using right now) so that his video chip won't fuck up on startup (same problem mine had a few months back). Hoping to finally get around to summoning the balls to swap out the kitchen sink today, among other things.
