Actually, unjon, I have five or six different types of hard hats, being the safety promoter that I am.

First off, there's the standard MSA-approved polyethylene hard hat. It's a general use hard hat It stops or deflects most debris. This is the standard issue, and mine is lime green since I'm involved with highway work (that's the new color these days)

Second, there's the brimless hard hat for people involved with mast control on a rig. You gotta see up to see any potential problems falling down rapidly your way.

Next, there's the hat that takes a light on a clip and is attached to a rechargeable 12V battery. Standard mine safety wear. You wear it (AND your self-rescuer) any time you go underground.

The cowboy hard hat is MSA-approved and is miore a fashion statement than it is protection in my opinion.

Finally, a wide brimmed STEEL hard hat. You wear that one anywhere around gas flares, or firefighting.

I am a man of many hats both hard and soft.
